Daddy, you neva die yet! Yes, daddy, you neva die yet, and you will never die because for God’s faithful, life is changed, and not ended. God whom you loved and served very well while here with us repaid your love by calling you home peacefully on August 5, 2021, the eve of the feast of Transfiguration. Instead of remaining here on earth to reflect on the transfiguration, you were made to experience it first-hand. And that’s why you can never die yet or later. Your favourite and common response any time I asked you “daddy, how are you?” was to tell me “I neva die yet” and from there, we would begin a lengthy discussion on life and its many gifts and challenges. You were always grateful to God for your life, despite the challenges. And I in return, will thank God for giving you good health, energy and sound memory. You remembered past events as if they happened minutes ago, and you would correctly recount over and over again, without changes. You were good at telling stories about life, as a guide for the present and future. I thank you for your wisdom, prayers, words of encouragement and concern for me; you would always ask after my wellbeing, work and family. You appreciated family life and always advised me to do same. I thank you daddy for you were truly a father, friend and life coach. Now you are at home with your Creator, our Lord Jesus Christ, our mother Mary, St Anthony of Padua, your best friend who always interceded for you here, other saints, the angels and your only Rose. I thank God for the gift of your life and pray God to grant us, those you left to continue the journey, the grace of a happy long life, final perseverance and happy death. When our battle of life is over, may we meet you again in the heavenly Kingdom where there is no pain, tears or sorrow. Daddy, there is no goodbye, all I will say is “E ma sun olufe ki e si ma sinmi l’aya Olugbala yin. E sun re, Baba rere! Chris Mbanewe

Daddy as I used to call you, Baba Okuribido was my mentor and influencer. He is a kind hearted and easy going Daddy, he always call me benetade, when we travelled for Saint vmcent de Paul meetings outside Ibadan he will always ask what did you bring from the travel. Baba will always want to go to every visitation as we visit the sick and the needy. Baba will always say we should give every money in the box to the client, that he believe God will always provide for the needy. Visiting him at old age is always a fun to him because he sees himself in mist of his brothers and sisters in helping the poor (SVP) he will be laughing Ha ha ha ha..... Adieu Daddy. Rest in Peace Saint Vincent De Paul, Pray For Us.

Akinwale Okuribido

Someone once said of himself “I was born, I grew and now this is what I am”. As for me, Akinwale Okuribido, I say of myself, I was born, raised and guided by the love and protection of a great family, as a result, I am who I am today, ”An extremely grateful son”. Daddy, many with enormous wealth wish to live the life you lived, the ipata boy (but always with an objective), the youth, full of life’s excitement, the family man with a zest for life and a father who left his children and descendants with memories to last and bring them a lifetime of smiles and lessons, a person well loved by those whose life you touched and those who merely heard of you. For as far as I can remember, you and mummy always held out a helping hand to those who needed it, even when those requiring it did not or could not ask. When my time here is done, I will think my life well lived, if my children think of me as I do of you. Thank you for my life and by extension, the life of my children. I will always be grateful for all that you taught, gave and shared. Sleep well my dear father and may you always be at peace, wherever you may be. Your dear and ever loving son, Akinwale Okuribido.

The world has lost a luminary. The stars have dimmed from this loss. Although we are sad at your passing, we are comforted from seeing the legacy you leave behind. A legacy of love, of warmth and of familial joy. Everytime I have spent with you has always brought a smile to my face, a cheer to heavy hearts and an encouragement to keep my head up in the struggle. Your stories and memories you leave behind are a testament to God's love and peace. In the next journey of yours, I wish you God speed Grandpa. Adieu Grandpa, Veni Vidi Vici. Ad Dei gloriam.

GrandPa! Not many people had the opportunity to see/meet theirs but I had the opportunity to know you, love you and have genuine great moments with you. I remember all through primary school and high school as you constantly encouraged me to study hard and make you proud. All the holidays that ended with mint money are all so unforgettable. You were a friend I could talk to, very knowledgeable about happenings around the world and never afraid of stating your opinions. I remember bragging to many of my friends how cool my grandpa was. You were abreast of new trends and technology sometimes even more than me. I remember the many nights of watching Africa Magic with you and the many spoilers you gave before the movie ended. I’m very positive that you have watched all the movies on Africa Magic Epic. I’m grateful to God that you saw me get married and embraced Laolu like your son and also the opportunity to meet your great granddaughter. To say I’ll miss you is an understatement. I’m glad you knew the Lord and lived a life that had impact. Rest well Grandpa in the bosom of God where there is no pain or suffering but Joy.
