Online book of condolence

An online book of condolence lets family, friends and colleagues leave a message of sympathy wherever they live. You choose whether it is public or open only to people you invite. It stays online for as long as your page does, so people who hear the news later can still write.

Online book of condolence

What is an online book of condolence?

It is the digital version of the book people sign at a funeral or service. Not everyone can attend, and not everyone finds the words straight away. Online, you can write a few lines when you are ready. The family can read the messages afterwards, often in the weeks and months that follow.

Create a book of condolence on Remembr.

Every memorial page on Remembr. includes a tab for condolences. Instead of a stand-alone book, you get a page where condolences have a place of their own, next to a tab for memories with text, photos and videos. You decide whether you want just messages of sympathy or a fuller tribute.

How do you leave a message?

Open the page, go to the condolences tab and write your message. On a public page you can read without logging in. To post, you create a free account. Unsure what to say? Our guide to the book of condolence helps.

Frequently asked questions

Who can read and write in the book?

On a public page anyone can read. On a private page only invited people can get in. Writing needs a free account, and you can do it at any time.

Can I make more than a book of condolence?

Yes. You create a memorial website and the book of condolence is one part of it.

How long does the book of condolence stay online?

Creating a page is free. After 7 days you choose between keeping it online for one year or keeping it online forever. Current options and prices are on the pricing page.

Can I make the book of condolence private?

Yes. You choose per page whether it is public or private. For a private page you invite people with a message, and only people who receive that invitation can get in.

Do I have to arrange it through the funeral director?

No. You create the page yourself, without a funeral director. If you want others to find the book, you or the funeral director can include the link in the funeral notice or order of service.
