Scott MacDonald

My condolences to Rebecca and the rest of Scott's family. I was lucky enough to have the privilege of working with Scott for many years at Sun Microsystems Ltd where we spent a lot of time working through some very challenging issues, which without Scott's tenacity, passion and guile we would not have resolved. We also had some shared interests outside of work which included photography, music and his love of motorbikes. I will never forget Scott taking me out on the back of his bike for the first time where he showed me what riding a motorbike was really about.....and after the that exhilarating experience I ended up getting one myself. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

While my time and interaction with Scott was only for 6 months, I will fondly remember Scott for his kind, thoughtful and gentle spirit. He meant so much to his colleagues, and especially to the Support EMEA team, with him being the first hire there, his instrumental role in building up the local team, as well as supporting new hires globally as the team expanded. My deepest condolences to Scott's loved ones. May all your wonderful memories of Scott comfort you during this heartbreaking time.

With sincerest condolences. I miss Scott almost like I do with a sibling. He was a good friend and colleague. He was very supportive and extremely generous with his time to everyone. A great loss to all and I am thankful to have known him.

I throughly enjoyed working alongside Scott, we had many laughs and challenges that no matter how difficult he approached them with great thought and structure and made the most complex things seem simple. His passion for his work was infectious and he was always willing to help and support others. His shared love of bikes (motorcycles) and guitars was a regular conversation point. Sorely missed. I feel honoured to call him a friend.

So sorry to hear this very sad news and my sincere condolences to Rebecca and the rest of Scott’s family. Scott and I joined Sun at the same time and were lucky enough to attend a very memorable (if not sometimes hazy) New Hire event together in San Francisco. Scott and I were also keen bikers and I have great memories of lunchtime and evening ride outs, from both Watchmoor Park and GMP, Scott at the time on his VFR and myself on one of several Triumphs.

It was a pleasure getting to know and work with Scott, he was extremely generous with his time and knowledge and will be missed greatly, Deepest condolences to his family and close friends.
