Sandra was a wonderful wife, mother, friend and colleague. Although she was with us for a shorter time than we all would have liked, she kept choosing to make the absolute most of every day, right to the end of her life. We especially remember her love for life, wit, intellect and passion for everything from a good beach to a good accounting standard. We miss her more than words can say, and are so grateful for the outpouring of love for her we have received from so many people who will miss her too.

I got to know Sandra at Verulam House as she was in the room opposite my mum. Despite her own troubles, she always asked how mum was doing, and we shared empathy, many a chat and a hug. She was a total inspiration the way she continued to live life to the fullest possible, and along with so many others I will miss her. I feel privileged to have known her.

Sandra was such a strong, passionate incredible and independent woman I knew at Verulam house. It was such a pleasure to care and help Sandra while she was at Verulam house. She always knew how to put a smile on everyone’s face and she always knew when something wasn’t right and would always give advice how to make it right. I would say to Sandra any plans today, she would either say, having a lazy morning and going out with friends in the afternoon for a walk around the lake or a nice cup of tea somewhere. She would often go back to her house at the weekends and spend most of the day there, baking cakes or doing other things with her family. Sandra will be sadly missed. She would zoom around Verulam house in her wheelchair, she was always ahead of everyone at the coffee machine. My condolences are with Andy, Rachel, James, Carolyn and all her family at this sad time. God now can take over looking after Sandra!!!

I only knew Sandra for the time she was with us at Verulam House, but in that time I came to find out that she was fiercely independent, had a great sense of humour and was incredibly intelligent. She had an immense personal strength that shone through for all to see. Sandra was an incredibly inspiring woman and it was an honour to have had the privilege to have cared for her and to have been able to spend time with Sandra and her family on our little holidays to Southwold. When you work in care, there are some people that you look after that you will always remember for one reason or another, and Sandra is most definitely one of the those people that I will always remember. I will look fondly on the pictures and memories from our trips, including the 2 am wake up phone call and trying to keep up with Sandra going along the sea front. I will also remember the strength and courage she showed during our difficult discussions. My thoughts are with Andy, Rachel, James and Carolyn, know that Sandra's spirit will always be with you.

I wish I'd had more time to get to know Sandra better. As someone going through a similar health situation I hope to follow her good example and keep the zest for life. She is missed but it's a beautiful reassurance to know she's with our saviour without pain or limitations imposed by disease.
