Ralph was a loving and devoted husband and father, fiercely independent, stoic in the face of the challenges life threw at him, all with the charm and generosity of spirit which characterised him.

Ralph was an amazing friend. Irene was Maiden of Honor at our wedding (Horace and Bunny Webb) before she met Ralph, although they met and married shortly thereafter. Then Ralph became our good friend. He is friendly, warm, sincere, funny and tremendous company. Together, we had had such a wonderful friendship despite our physical distance as we live in the US. I truly loved Ralph and always felt that he and Irene were the perfect couple. I will miss him terribly but feel so honored to have had him in my life.

Ralph was exceptional and unique and so much so that it is impossible to recap what an extraordinary human being he was. You'll need an entire book to do justice to his wisdom, his tolerance, his extreme kindness, his witty sense of humor. Way back, when Irene would mention to me events of his life as a child, teenager or young adult, I was always impressed by his resilience but also by the fact that there was no bitterness in him. Une belle âme as we say in French.

I am so sorry to hear of Ralph's passing. He used to accompany Irene to our dance workshops at Arts 4 Dementia and we enjoyed warm, humorous chats together. He was the best company with a big heart and clearly had a profound love for Irene.They were a really lovely couple, very special indeed.

To Ralph’s boys, their mum and their families, I will miss this giant of kindness and caring, lover of life, good food, travel and adventure, gracious and welcoming man. I remember such happy times shared with Ralph, my late husband, Horace and Irene. Ours was a special friendship that bridged many miles and was seldom nurtured but whenever good fortune brought us together, remained as vibrant and as exciting as ever.
