Pat Midgley

it has taken some time for me to be able to express my sadness at the loss of a dear friend. Words are inadequate at a time like this. Pat was an inspiration to many of us: totally principled, determined and caring. It will be difficult to go back into the Council Chamber, knowing she won't be there. She may be no longer with us but she will never be forgotten

I've just seen the news about Pat in the online version of the Yorkshire Post. I'm aware that she died a few weeks ago and I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear this sad news and to send all her colleagues, friends and family my condolences. She was such a lovely person and good to work with.

Just heard the very sad news about Pat. She was a lovely, warm, kind person, totally dedicated to her community and her city. It was a pleasure to know, and work with, her during my time living in Sheffield. My thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues.

Pat was an amazing lady. Always willing to help. Over the years we had many an interesting conversation. Pat was always a compassionate person and offer good advice. As Lord Mayor we had that in common and shared many a laugh together. My deepest thoughts and condolences for Don and his family. Thinking of you Diane Leek x

Pat and her family were a massive part of my childhood. Many happy memories of time spent together especially on holidays. With special gratitude for the friendship Pat had with my mum Jean. We will miss Pat but are thankful for the difference she has made to so many.

Lovely women always smiling, couldn't do enough for people helped at Xmas at church for the vulnerable honour t meet such a happy lady go be blessed with the Angels xx

Pat epitomised the best of Sheffield City Council. She cared about everybody and everything, she was tireless as a councillor, she never sought profile or glory and she always valued collaboration over conflict. In my 22 years with the Council she was, quite simply, always there. Like many people, I saw her just a week or so before her passing and she was full of energy and, as ever, focussed on making things happen. It is very hard to imagine the Council without her as she was so much part of its heart and spirit. My thoughts are with her family, the Labour Group of which she was such a big part and with all her friends and colleagues in the Town Hall.

I will be thinking so much about Pat today. A truly wonderful person to work alongside over many years. My thoughts are with Pat's family whom she loved so much and are remembering Pat under the most difficult circumstances. Rest in Peace Pat.
