Our great friend and former colleague, Nick Spencer, has sadly passed away. Nick left BP at the end of March, and his death has come as a great shock to us all. We are truly sorry and cannot possibly comprehend the grief that Nick’s partner Eve, and his sons Richard and Robert, are feeling right now. We would like to share your memories, stories and anecdotes of Nick and his time at BP with his family. Nick was a much-loved colleague, and we appreciate your support to help his family through this extremely difficult time.

Dear family Spencer, since I read the news this morning, I have Nick on my mind...I am deeply sad about you loosing your husband and father- I met Nick when he came to Gelsenkirchen and I admired him how professionally he managed through that challenge, calmy, focused on safety, people and business results and at the same time he had a dry and very funny humor. He is a very special man and leader who I will always remember. I probably can only imagine the beginning of your feelings... but please allow me via this way to silently hold your hands for a little while to support and share your feelings. With heartfelt condolences Jennifer

I was completely floored when recently hearing that Nick had passed away. He was a lovely guy - intelligent, sharp and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. I last met him just before he left BP and we were discussing positively all the amazing life possibilities ahead. A great shame - he's been taken way too soon and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will miiss his calmness, good humour, intelligent conversation and honesty/openness. My sincerest condolences to all of Nick's family RIP Nick

Hearing this this news is painful. Nick was a wonderful person who I had the pleasure of working with since last year. Whenever we met he would always greet me with a big smile and I really enjoyed the conversations we had. I would like to offer Nick’s family my deepest and most sincere condolences. I am so sorry for your loss.

I was so very saddened to hear of your loss. Nick was a wonderful person who really helped me so much during my early days of HR advising. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to provide the quality support required for Nick but he was so generous with his time, made me feel welcomed to the team and really helped me find my feet in my new role. I’ll always miss Nick and remember him for his great sense of humour, kindness and enormous wisdom.

My heart felt condolences to Nick's family and friends. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of his passing. We have lost an amazing person who we all had the privilege to have know and been gifted by his impact. He had such deep respect towards other people and always displayed such wonderful values. His refinery knowledge and experience was amazing and he provided many people, including me, with some great wisdom and insights. I will not forgot the last conversation we had. We will all miss Nick but never forget.

I knew Nick and Angela and her son, Warren, socially during their few years in Grimsby while Nick was with ConocoPhillips. They were a wonderful, generous outgoing but unassuming couple who threw themselves into the local community, in particular fundraising for the NSPCC, hosting some memorable events in their own home. Tragedy struck during those years when Warren (my son’s best friend) died in an accident and I don’t think they ever really recovered from that shock. I was so sad to hear of Nick’s death recently. We lost touch many years ago but I will always remember his kindness and gentle manner. My heart goes out to all who were close to him at this awful time.
