Merina Mampilly

Merina had one of those kind faces and smiles which just always felt familiar, in the most lovely of ways. Though I did not know you personally, I would see you around uni and in seminars with Alannah and Roisin. I was deeply saddened to hear about your sudden passing. It’s been two weeks since you were laid to rest and you had a beautiful service with wonderful tributes and memories from all of your family and friends. You’re very much in my thoughts every day; when I’m home, when I’m going to uni and when I’m in placement. Your photo is up in my room. I think about all the people you would have met and spoken to, cared for, in your own placements. I wish you were here to finish the course with us, but I know you’re with us in spirit, Sending love, light and thoughts to all who have been affected.

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Merina personally, though she and her family are very much in my thoughts. Merina's family can be assured that she will graduate with us in spirt.

Merina, I actually cannot believe what has happened. You were the most lovely person ever. From becoming friends in college, to then choosing to go to the same uni. It was a roller coaster of emotions but we went through it all together. I loved being your friend and always knew you would be up for a gossip and a moan. I loved our video calls where we would talk for agesss about random stuff, keeping each other in the loop about everything. You always had a big smile on your face and made me so happy to be in your presence. You were so unbelievably cleaver, funny, whitty, beautiful and had the biggest heart. You would have made such an amazing nurse Merina! Everyone you met, you had a positive impact on. You were one in a million and I love you loads. It’s too hard to come to terms that you’re not here anymore, so it’s only goodbye for now, while I wait for our next FaceTime xxx

Merina, you were such an amazing person. I will never forget your smile which would brighten up any room you were in. You were such a wonderful friend I will never forget our movie nights where we would watch all genres you even got me into bollywood movies. You always knew how to make me laugh from your bursts of energy to making the stuffed animals dance. Thank you for all the memories we have shared, I will miss and think about you always x

Rest in peace Merina, everything I have heard has been how much of a wonderful nurse you would have been. Wishing all Merina’s family and friends my condolences at such a sad time.

My thoughts are with Merina's family and friends at this time. Everyone is truly saddened by the loss of Merina. I am sure that she touched many lives in her nursing journey. You will always be in everyone's thoughts and prayers.

Although I did not know Merina well, I had the pleasure of meeting Merina a couple of times when our plans crossed during Merina’s academic journey. However, I know from Merina’s friends and other academic colleagues that Merina was a dedicated, motivated and kind student nurse. I offer my deepest condolences to Merina’s family and friends, as well as the nursing and academic communities that you have clearly made a huge impact upon. You will be deeply missed.
