Martin Farnham

This is such sad news, we'll all miss Martin, a friendly chap that made you smile. He always had a comments at SWJAG and SWHAUC

I was very saddened to hear the news of Martin passing. I’ve known Martin for a great number of years and always had long conversations about sport, and his family which he was very proud of, sometimes we even talked about work, especially on my recent Bridport Schemes! Martin was a likeable, caring and genuine character, someone I will truly miss

I am truly going to miss having our Monday morning catch up of the previous weekend, the rugby, the cricket, the golf (how bad it had been or not) what antics the grand kids had been up to and how happy he was whenever talking about Laura and Liam and how hugely proud he was of them both. He was always so generous with his time, opinion and advice and whether you agreed with it or not he was always honest (sometimes brutally!) but always kind and always with the best intentions at heart. He was so easy to talk to about anything and very often he could relate it to a story of his past and the day would fly by! Many people have a 'work wife' or 'work husband' but I think I could say he was 'work dad'! I always think of him whenever I hear "the whole point is". I feel that we have lost a true gent and it won't be the same without you Mr Farnham x

This was such a shock to receive such devastating news about Martin. We have worked alongside for over 36 years, and in all that time, he was a constant. Fighting for colleagues' rights, and enjoying a good long chat! Our condolences to Martin's family in this exceptionally difficult time when separated by such a great distance.

So sorry to hear of Martin's passing. A genuine guy who always stood up for what was right - we could all learn much from him. R x

From the first day we met, our passion for the same frustrating sports teams had the conversation flowing. Martin loved a chat... I’m sorry there weren’t more of these. He was always on hand to share his knowledge,experience, and lend an ear (followed by his opinion) be it work or home life. He was a wise man with a kind heart. I was lucky enough to share and create some fond memories with Martin, and they are memories that he would never let me forget. A conference in Cardiff, a week away training and a car ride will be the ones I treasure most. You were always so supportive of me and Jess, and you played your part in our relationship. Thankyou. We will miss your travel advice especially with all those great experiences you had in the Lake District and Nee Zealand which you loved to share. I know you were so fond of your family and my condolences are with all of you. Martin was a genuine man and I will truly miss him.

Mrs Paulley as that's what I always heard when I had approved works in Bridport! 25 years of chatting, laughing, 'moaning' obviously but always with a cheery smile at the end of it. I have so much to say but don't know where to start, I guess my immediate working relationship started in 1996 when I applied for a role within Martins team, my interview with a very heavy cold humoured Martin quite a bit especially when I asked if the window could be opened and he responded 'no, lets make you suffer', always the joker but I was successful in being appointed and I suppose that's where my friendship with Martin began. A lot has happened over those years and we certainly had our ups and downs and disagreements and sadly quite a few of those were more recently and for that I am sorry. I am sorry I will never hear your voice again, I am sorry I didn't indulge in your most recent trip to New Zealand and the memories you always fondly shared. I still cant believe that you have gone and I will never see the array of summer and winter headwear bobbing along the wing. My thoughts are with your family who I know meant so much to you and you really have left a big void in all those who loved and knew you. Rest in peace Mr Farnham, gone but never forgotten xxx

I will keep a lot of respect for Martin - he stood up for the rights of his colleagues as much as himself. He was never short of conversation and was as genuine as they come. He was the sort of character that easily just sort of jumped in to my professional life, as my career shifted in the direction of road space management, and he stayed a part of it for many years. A real shock that we should lose Martin so soon and so suddenly. A gentleman. My thoughts are with his family.
