My family will miss Lavern she was my sisters friend. To the family you have our heart felt condolences.

My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to you David and all of your Mother's beautiful family and close friends. I agree she is gone too soon. May God bless you and cover your hearts. I believe she will remain with you as a source of guidance and strength. Ms. Laverne was a strong woman. I didn't know her, but noticed this woman fearlessly speaking up when no others dared. She spoke with passion and truth. Her blunt manner did not cause me to judge her as I could sense that she spoke from a place of truth and conviction. I grew to appreciate her. Anyone would have done well to have her on their side! She is someone whom I would love to conversate with now during these dire times; alongside Dr. Eva Hodgson, and my friend Pauulu Kamarakafego. Their wisdom is what is now needed. Their unswerving service to the people is missed. As I was perusing Ms. Laverne's facebook page, I came across a post that spoke about cherishing the present... It was timely for me, and I burst into tears... I agree - Speak with wonderful and wise souls along your journey as soon as you realize that they have something valuable to impart to you, as time is not promised. Even if you are not considering value, communicate with souls that you become drawn to. There are no coincidences... Thank you Ms. Laverne for giving me a few lessons at a distance. You are honored and will be missed. Your legacy will live on in your beautiful family! I came to learn that she is the mother of a beautiful spirit who is my friend, the intelligent and wise Dr. David Chapman. She was firm and tough for a reason, and I'm sure she was as well endowed with the gentleness and the gentility we see in her offspring. God bless!

It seems like just yesterday when I saw Laverne in town on the day after she became a Senator. She was so happy with her new appointment. How time flies! On behalf of my family we give our deepest condolences to Laverne's family.....she will be greatly missed.

Laverne and I did not always eye to eye. But Laverne always had my respect. What I particularly admired was her willingness to always put her name to her opinions and that she was always forthright in those opinions. There was no mistaking where, as we say, she was coming from. I also found her to be indefatigable in her commitments. Another admirable and rare quality. My sincere personal condolences to her family and friends. I should also like to extend condolences on behalf of Albert College in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, where I serve as Past Chair of the Board of Governors. Laverne attended Albert in the.mid 60s where she also made her mark and, I understand, is remembered fondly by those who were there with her: once again an ambassador for Bermuda. May she Rest In Peace and may her family find comfort in the many memories she created for all of us.

To Vance, David and the entire family you all have my heart felt condolences. Ms. Laverne Furbert was a very exceptional human being. I had the privilege of meeting her many years ago in the company of Dame Lois Browne-Evans. I didn't know it then but over the years we would grow to be good friends. When I think of words to describe this lady empathy, passionate, reliable, dedicated and loyal come to mind. Ms. Furbert gave her unwavering commitment and energy to anything that she decided to pursue. I learned from my many years of association with the PLP that she was fiercely loyal and did not have much patience for those that did not share that loyalty but was open to understanding differences. We had quite a few disagreements but grew closer and shared much more in depth discussions as a result of those disagreements. Ms. Furbert kept me abreast of party matters and issues affecting Bermuda as a country. She was in tune with BIU matters and gave clarity to anyone that was misguided in their perception of the BIU. She was fiercely loyal and defended both the PLP and the BIU to their detractors in the face of vile and vitriolic verbal attacks. She was a warrior and did not back down. On the other hand she was reasonable and open to discussion. These are just some of her qualities I admired and learned to respect. What really endeared me to Ms. Furbert was her love for family the way she doted on hers and others. Her community spirit was unbelievable and she always reached out to help the less fortunate and seniors. An extension of her love for family. So as I reflect on her life and the impact she made on the community at large I would like to say well done our good and faithful servant. May you rest in peace.

Deepest condolences to the family, friends and general Bermuda community who have lost a "Phenomenal Woman". Her dynamic personality and kind heart stand out in my memory. She taught me that confidence isn't brash but is a quiet dignity that you wear like a crown. Rest well Queen, your race is run and your battles now fought.
