Sending my condolences and love to Helen and Olivia at this very difficult and painfully sad time. I knew Lachlan through working in Calderdale Finance, but also got to know him more by sharing many happy holidays together. Thanks to Richard Lister ( our holiday organiser ) we travelled to many Eastern European countries and together with Bob Wright Geoff Smith and Lachlan’s brother Gavin had some great times. I will miss my mate. R I P Lachlan.

Arrived last night after a 10 hour flight to the news I never wanted to hear that Lachlan had gone. Doesn’t seem right me sat here on holiday and happy. But I am happy. I’m happy I’ve had him as part of my life for so long. He’s been in so many of my happiest memories. He never said much as he’d have had to compete with me and Clive. But when he did it was always a classic. So many of them over the years. Well thought out and just awaiting the perfect delivery time. Just 12 months to the day Bob went for his car in Portsmouth when Lac was rushed home off a cruise and I rode shotgun. We knew it wasn’t good but we had a great 12 months and tried to do our normal weekly pints and Fridays out - solving the worlds problems. Not once did Lac say “why me” or get angry or bitch or moan. We just had one little cry then he moved on. More worried about his beautiful wife Helen, and Olivia - who made his eyes sparkle whenever he told us of her latest news. He was SO SO proud of her. It’s strange but when people die I feel they are everywhere rather in one place. They are with everyone whose lives they touched on their short journey. And he certainly did that with many many friends. In all the years I knew him I never saw him nasty to anyone or diss anyone other just once he got sent off for kicking this twat that had been fowling him all night at footy! And he deserved it so we all paid his fine. A steady thoughtful intelligent friend who you could rely on for anything. So I’m sat here thinking of him and remembering him and talking to him. And he’s here with me. The only person who called me Rich oddly. I’m sad I won’t hear that again. I just hope they don’t have mobile phones in heaven - or if they do, I hope there’s someone he can ask for help.
