Jim Gillies

My sincere condolences to Jim's Family. I had the pleasure of working with Jim at SLC. I still remember his sense of humor and how kind he was to me. Such a great person to have around.

I feel very lucky to have worked with Jim. I learnt so much from him and he was always there to help me and others in the team. Jim would always have me laughing with his sense of humour. He really did have a way with words. I would like to pass on my deepest condolences to all of his family and friends. Thinking of you during this difficult time

It was a pleasure to have worked with Jim over the last 6 years. He was always willing to help out and share whatever knowledge he had, delivered with the usual amount of Jim sarcasm for good measure. The one thing that truly stood out with Jim was that he was first and foremost a family man, you could often overhear conversations on what he’d been up to with his wife & daughter and how proud he was of his family. A sad loss and my condolences go out to Aileen & Emma.

We're all missing Jim along with you. He was such a talented, positive and unforgettable person. I worked with Jim while he was in Assess at SLC. We were in different teams, but we live close together in Kilmarnock. I'll always fondly remember our long on-the-bus chats, putting tech woes to rights, and seeing Jim out for walks where he always stopped and we'd easily lose an hour talking. I know this must be a difficult time for you, Aileen, and Emma. If there is anything we can do, please let us know.

I have known Jim since he started at SLC in the FE team and I was working in release management. Since then I have worked with Jim in many different ways and was for a time Jim's manager. Jim was a very smart guy and I always admired how he always managed to remain calm, objective, and with good humour during the many crises that we have faced at SLC. Jim will be very much missed, and my thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.

I have known Jim from way back when we both worked for Abbey National. I was pleased when our paths crossed again in SLC and especially in the Asses Platform where I would get to work closely with him. He was a clever guy, a funny guy, a caring guy and a loving guy. I will miss him. Deepest condolences to all his family at this very sad time.

The thing I'll remember most about Jim was his brilliant sense of humour. He had this amazing talent to bring a smile to people’s faces and make light of difficult situations with his jokes. During the lockdown last year when we had to clear our belongings out of the Europa building, Jim was the colleague that was in at the same time as me. I'll treasure the catch up we had that day, mostly learning about the new puppy that had recently joined the family. My thoughts are with his daughter Emma, wife Aileen and the rest of his family and friends. Jim will be deeply missed x
