We were deeply saddened to learn that our former colleague, Rikenel receptionist, Jenny Garwood passed away over the weekend. Jenny was very well known to Trust colleagues having worked as a receptionist for many years. Her family describe her as “NHS through and through”, and recall how she “befriended so many colleagues in her 30 years in Rikenel reception, and 11 years previous to that at Gloucestershire Hospitals”. We will provide details of arrangements for Jenny's funeral on the intranet once they have been confirmed. Our thoughts are with Jenny’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Jenny’s passing. Over the past 6 or 7 years, I have been a regular visitor to Rikenel on a workman type basis. Jenny always remembered my name and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Jenny on reception. She was good fun and we always shared a laugh, and/or she told me about her holidays in Egypt. When she retired, Rikenel wasn’t the same without her. I’m just upset she didn’t get to enjoy the long and happy retirement she truly deserved. The last time I saw Jenny was a chance meeting in Kings Square. She was her usual happy fun self, and we had a hug and a few laughs. The photo on this page is exactly how I will remember Jenny. Rest in peace and heartfelt condolences to her family.

So sad to hear of Jenny's passing. She was a wonderful lady for whom nothing was too much trouble. She always kindly collected postage stamps for me for charity even after I had moved on from the Rikenel. She will be sadly missed

Jenny was a shining light as the front face of our head office in Rikenel. I didn't know her well but always felt welcomed as she greeted me by name on every visit, and later when I moved to work there more regularly she was always very smiley and took the time to engage. Her warm, friendly nature really lifted me and I was very pleased for her when she was able to retire and enjoy more time with her family and for herself. My condolences to Helen and her family. x

I was really saddened to hear about Jenny . I left Rikenel, the Trust and the area almost 20 years ago and we have exchanged Christmas cards ever since. For me she was the face of Rikenel . A very special person who always went the extra mile with a smile on her face Lots of fond memories of very early morning chats and the occasional walk around the Park before my working day commenced . Every condolence to John and family .

Although I did not frequently work at Rikenel I remember Jenny fondly. She was always kind and found a moment to speak to everyone despite always being so busy. She found a way to put a smile on your face each and every day. RIP lovely lady.

I had the greatest pleasure of working with Jenny at Rikenel for over 30 years. She was the funniest kindest and loveliest lady who I was honoured to call not just my colleague but my friend. Over the years we spent many hours laughing crying and just sharing such wonderful times and memories and she made my working days at Rikenel extra special.. She was the Queen of Rikenel and someone everyone could rely on. She was amazing at her job and was the to go to person if anything was needed.. She will be deeply missed by her family friends and colleagues.. My heartfelt condolences to them all.. God bless Jenny.. ❤️Xx

Rikenel hasn't been the same since you retired, you were so looking forward to what lay ahead, not knowing what the world really had in mind for you. I remember our last conversation as if it were yesterday, I was saddened when you told me what you had been through, but admired your willingness to keep going.
