Jean Harrison

Jean was a poet, teacher and friend to many all over the world. She as thoughtful, generous and kind. In her writing she had a talent for precise description and clear language. She published two collections of poetry, Junction Road and Terrain and two novels, On a Wandering Planet and The Fern Hedge. She loved walking and cats. In Settle she established the poetry group, Settle Sessions and was a founding Trustee for the charity Settle Stories. She is much missed by all who knew her. I was shocked to hear of Jean's death. I had known her for a good many years. After she moved to Settle I remember going walking with her and Barbara. I got to know Jean's writing which reached a high standard, both prose and poetry. I shall always remember her as a quiet, modest person.

I was so sorry to hear about Jean's passing away. She was a good friend and support when I arrived in Settle. I enjoyed our conversations about art and poetry. She also was the person who helped me find the house I now live in. I am forever grateful. Sita
