He was a happy, incredibly curious, fun-loving person. Bert loved to play and of course he was always a big boy as well as a loving caregiver. He was a fundamentally positive person who always had a hearty laugh that was contagious, partying was a great joy for him. He loved to travel far across the sea and to visit foreign and cold places. What was never missing in a nice evening was the enjoyment of wine and whisky and always making others believe that it was apple juice. He loved to pass on his knowledge to other people so that they could grow even better. The head says it is a salvation, but the heart cries.

Bert was wonderful person. He was a volunteer Dutch teacher. We came to his class not for Dutch language but also for all topics in Dutch society from politics to investments. His knowledge was not only broad and also deep. We missed Bert because he was also a funny person. He always know to make us laugh. Getting to know him was my pleasure. I just regret that I did not know him earlier. Enjoy your rest, Bert! You are missed!

Learning of Bert’s passing was heart-wrenching. My thoughts and heart are with you(Andres) during this time.
