Elizabeth Chona Muyovwe

Hon. Lady Justice Elizabeth Nkombo Chona Muyovwe remembered. We celebrate the life of a remarkable woman, daughter, grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, friend, mentor as well as an inspirational, hardworking and honest Judge. It's lovely to see the outpouring of kind messages and calls from friends all over the world to Elizabeth’s family members. Although she may be surprised at just how many people deeply cared for and cherished her life and friendship. She touched all those she met with her smile and welcoming generous ways. She lived proudly as a devoted Christian who always had God at the center of her life. Through any adversity, she stood strong in her faith always rising above every challenge, and always had the words, “It is well” for every situation. She was incredibly hard-working, passionate, and driven which can be seen through her many achievements and accolades. Her greatest job was raising her four beautiful children, Bubala, Muki, Malindi, and Mukale. As their mother, she had her greatest role in teaching and nurturing them to love God and work hard. She lived as an example to many and you can see her spirit in the life of her children. Her generosity impacted many lives through her philanthropy by diligently supporting charity, visiting the sick, caring for widows and helping fund education needs for the needy. She had a big heart, and her love touched many. All those that knew her, know how she would light up the room with her laugh, transform any space with her positive energy and be the person everyone wanted to see and be counselled. We will continue to cherish every moment we got to spend with her and know that she's in the hands of her Heavenly Father. Her memory lives on in her legacy, her giving heart, her children and her grandchild.

Condolences on the passing of a much loved friend. Cousin Judge was my friend. We called each other "cousin" as our parents met in 1964 and our relationship emanated from there. Elizabeth was my friend, we enjoyed many moments of laughter and reminiscing together, Judge Liz was a fellow lawyer, she went onto the high office of the Supreme Court, an accomplishment that I was extremely proud of, Liz was my God sent sister, we spent time in prayer together and seeking God's will for our lives and how we could leave a godly legacy for our generations. Elizabeth had a golden heart, she gave generously to people on the street, in orphanages, in prisons, randomly and purposefully and encouraged others to get involved. Liz walked in the light, her smile and presence were a light to many and her custom saying "it is well" always brought a smile to me. I know she is at rest with the God she loved so much.

I don't remember a time in my life where you were not present. You were my Godmother and you truly played that role perfectly until the end. I remember how you were there for Mom, the boys and myself from the time I lost my Dad. You were a true source of comfort and prayers and you were always there during the different milestones I have been through in life. I will miss you voice, I will miss your encouraging words and prayers, I will miss you making fun of me and calling me a fake Tonga (lol), I will miss you sharing books with me. You were the epitome of a woman of faith and you were such a wonderful friend and sister to my Mother. Thank you for blessing us with your presence all these years. I will miss you terribly but I am comforted by the fact that you are definitely singing and dancing with the angels in heaven. Rest in peace Mommy Liz. Your memory will live forever in our hearts.

I want to express my shock, sadness and deepest condolences at the passing of a loving mum, daughter, sister and grandmother – my dearest friend Liz. No words can express what has happened and I can’t even begin to imagine how devastating this is. Liz was such a warm, cheerful, and caring individual. She was very principled. I was always full of admiration of Liz as I am not sure how she managed to make so many friends from all walks of life. I made friends through her. Liz may be gone but she will always live in our hearts as she was such a force to forget. I thank the lord that I had such a friend. Bubala, Malindi, Mukale and Muki and Liz's mum and siblings, my deepest condolonces. Liz loved you above all else. "Your life was a blessing. Your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measures”. Rest in Peace dear friend.

I remember my very first encounter with "my friend the Judge" at the Paediatrics ward at UTH. As an intern, I had encountered so many entitled elites who made our work a nightmare, and I was always wary of any titled person. On this day, although my shift had ended, I was moved by her honest plea for any kind of help for this little baby whose mother she had brought to the hospital. When everything was done, I was stunned to realize that she was not only a friends parent, but a very respected judge. That was many many years ago but she remained a true friend since that encounter. In her presence, I never felt the need to be anything other than myself because she was always her down to earth self. I loved her unexpected texts and calls; and was often surprised when she commented on my silly whatsapp statuses. My heart goes out to all her family, especially her children. She was truly a sweet soul and will be dearly missed. Heartfelt condolences to the family. MHSRIP
