Betty Anne Rutherford (McClure)

Betty Rutherford, 82, of Pacific, MO, went home to be with her Lord in the morning on Thursday, September 30, 2021. Betty Anne was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1938 in Neosho, Missouri to Chester and Ella McClure. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, and two sisters, Dorothy Reeves and Kay Viles. On September 28, 1957, she married the love of her life, Dean Rutherford, and they shared 64 happy years together. She is survived by Dean as well as her five children, Jim Rutherford of Union, MO, Pam Dubuque (Rick) of Pacific, MO, Russell Rutherford (Valarie) of Tioga, TX, Scott Rutherford (Marjorie) of Niantic, IL, and Tim Rutherford (Sandra) of Raymore, MO; 12 grandchildren: Tiffany Pyle (Zach) of Union, Amy Arias (Juan) of Union, Ryan Dubuque (Traci) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kristin Carter (Nathan) of Springfield, MO, Sarah Shubakagel, Cara Dubuque, Ella Rutherford, Jonathan Rutherford, Caleb Rutherford, Harmony Rutherford, Melody Rutherford, and Addison Rutherford; and nine great-grandchildren. Betty was an excellent mother, wife, friend, sister, and doting grandmother. She was a dedicated servant of the church. Betty's death was sudden, but her life was not faint. She was the very definition of a steel magnolia and she passed that on to the generations that followed. Her memory will always be with us, and her legacy will continue through her children and grandchildren. Betty would smile if she were here with us today. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and the Celebration of Life for Betty will be Saturday, October 9th at 10:30 a.m., both events at First Baptist Church, 2705 Highway 100, Gray Summit, MO 63089. I want to offer my condolences for your loss. It’s been a long time since Betty and I were cohorts but my memories of our friendship are precious time. I fully understand the grief you are experiencing since Carl died in 2020. I wish each of you comfort in your loss and peace knowing that one day we’ll can and will have a great reunion around Heaven’s throne.
