Prince Lawrence Asong Empire Tribute to our beloved uncle. Death is inevitable it is a journey that everyone must take. Often times we wish death wasn't a part of life. Our hearts aches,it is with sorrow and sadness that we write this tribute to our beloved uncle. You were an uncle in a million, humble, kindhearted,loving, caring and good at heart and soul! Your sudden death came as a rude shock, we never expected and we wish we had more time to continue to appreciate you,God in his infinite wisdom knows best,you touched so many lives by your selfless and countless act of kindness your dedication to a cause was what set you apart. For every institution you worked for,you laid the path for others to succeed . The benefits of your hard work is a living testimony for so many young men and women you took under your wings. Uncle you were a good man, and so many have attested to the fact that, you WHERE A GOOD MAN I pray my sibling and soar higher than you did,you'll always be an inspiration to us and the entire family and everyone who have come in contact with you.while we mourn you,we also take comfort in the fact ur mission on earth have been fulfilled as we bid you farewell! SLEEP ON ETE RALPH AND REST IN PEACE My mind was filled with all manner of questions the moment I read on Wednesday 14th October the message from my cousin that you went out on Monday 12th October and hadn’t returned home. After days of anguish and bewilderment, alas my cousin EteRalph is no more and gone without saying good bye. My cousin Engineer Ralphael Agban Asong joined the P. O. E. Bassey family in Port Harcourt after completing his primary school education. Together with his late elder brother, Ete Albert Okon Etim, they attended Santa Maria High School, Omoku until 1967, when the Nigerian civil war broke out leading to the closure of all secondary schools in the then Eastern Nigeria. They were boarders at Omoku. We resumed our primary and secondary education in Calabar and we all resided at our home on Marian Road. He attended St. Patrick’s College at Ikot Ansa. EteRalph was a hard working science student and performed brilliantly in the West African School Certificate Exam. I loved and enjoyed ironing his starched school uniforms, according to his instructions and ironing style. EteRalph, your place here is made void and no tears can bring you back. However, being with the Lord is better. So my dear cousin, sleep on and Rest In Peace. Professor Ekanem C. Wokoma (Nee Odo Bassey)

Growing up in the 1960’s in Nigeria meant a house full of siblings and cousins. It was for me an interesting set up. It had its enjoyable moments and also sometimes, tense ones. It was in this place of relationships that we learnt survival skills and a good dose of resilience. We also learnt to share and accommodate each other; something that perhaps today's world needs. Ete Raphael as we called him was a much older cousin and culture demanded that we had an endearing pet name and respectful title for him. He was very intelligent and walked in a princely and dignified manner. His gait was spritely and even when I saw him last, he was still energetic inspite of his age. He was a peaceful man of few words but his presence was effective. We certainly miss him but are assured that he has joined the saints triumphant. I pray that God will comfort his wife and children, his siblings and our entire family of relatives. I pray that God's peace and love would be with us all. May God bless and keep us all. Death,so it is true that you can be unfair to me,my heart is very heavy with grief Dad you left without signal or word to me, u make me who I am today you have trained me stage 1and 2 you left me half way who will continue my education, you left without me repaying you for all the good deeds.you were a dad in season and out of season a golden gem . We the family of Ajayi Makanjuola' of llesha local government, osun state sincerely sympathize with the family of ASONG of Biquo town calabar cross river state on the death of our fathers inlaw Eng. Asong , a gentle man ,a man of dignity, man of valour, a kind hearted man, well respected man , what other adjective to quantify him?many . He lives a Christian Life and am sure is resting with our Lord in heaven, my sincere condolences goes to our dear mother Mrs Asong ,may God continue to console u ,he will always be there for you. The Family of Ntufam Professor Charles Edet Effiong Effiong Ntui Villa, Oban. 28th October, 2020 Mrs Sylvia Asong 20 Okang Street Big Qua Town Calabar CONDOLENCE MESSAGE On behalf of the family of Late Ntufam Prof. Charles and Dr. Mrs Adiaha Effiong, I write to convey our condolences to yourself and the entire family on the transition of your husband and our dear cousin Late Elder Engr Raphael Asong. “Uncle Ralph” as we all called him, has been a leading light of the family and in the community especially over the last ten years. He was ever jovial, always positive, always an asset, contributing his time, energy, wisdom and empathy to the family and community. Uncle Ralph, enjoyed a career in tertiary education and also contributed significantly as a member of the Ntufam’ s Council in his home community of Oban and was an “Elder” of the Oban Community in Calabar in the “Ejik Oban ” community association. He rarely ever missed an event or meeting. There was no doubt that he loved and prioritised his people, community and his culture. At the extended family level, Uncle Ralph participated actively in all relevant actives and enjoyed extremely cordial relationships with everyone in the entire family. Our hearts are filled with good memories of him, for this reason his sudden passing is difficult to accept. Uncle Ralph’s presence would be greatly missed, please take solace in the knowledge that his legacy remains in the children and his memories are indelible in the hearts of all who knew him well and in the belief that he is at rest with the Lord.
