We mourn the death of Comptroller Anthony Ayalogu of the Nigerian Customs Service. Until his death he was the Comptroller, Facilitation and Preferential Trade at the Nigeria Customs Service and the representative of the Nigerian Customs Service on the National Action Committee on AfCFTA. His invaluable and priceless insights contributed immensely towards shaping Nigeria's Designated Competent Authority and the Rules of Origin for AfCFTA as we pushed towards implementing #AfCFTAforNigeria. We pray that the Almighty God in his infinite mercies will grant him peaceful repose. And grant his family, friends and associates the strength and fortitude to bear this loss. The National Action Committee on the AfCFTA mourns this great loss.

TRIBUTE TO COMPTROLLER ANTHONY AYALOGU IN COMMEMORATION OF A LIFE SPENT IN SERVICE. "Good men may die, but death cannot take away their names," - a Danish proverb. I would have rather that this be a tribute on the retirement from a brilliant profession or a celebration of another milestone in an incredible life of service. Nonetheless, I am honored to pay tribute today, on behalf of the National Action Committee on the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), to Comptroller Anthony Ayalogu- a colleague, friend, brother and an excellent service man. In whatever role we knew him and from whatever vantage point, he was exceptional! We had the privilege of witnessing firsthand, his selflessness and patriotism which he demonstrated in unpacking the concepts of the AfCFTA—particularly the Rules of Origin—and in operationalizing the Designated Competent Authority, all towards the achievement of a prosperous Nigeria economically integrated in Africa through trade. Comptroller Ayalogu was always kind, resourceful and forthwith in the discharge of his duties and always contributed more than his fair share towards the success of the team. This irreparable loss will undoubtedly leave a void but we hold firm to the comforting belief that he is resting and is at peace with his creator. We pray that Almighty God will grant him a peaceful repose and grant his loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss. Journey well my brother! Journey well my friend!! I have known Comptr. Ayalogu since the creation and formation of AfCFTA in Nigeria. He was very vast in international trade. Any of the scheduled meetings you do not found the Comptr. present, the meeting deliberations of that day looks inconclusive without his contributions. A very hard working officer. He happens to be a brother to my secondary school classmate, Emma Ayalogu. May his gentle soul rest in peace. I have recently retired from active service of NAQS.

I have been working with Comptroller Ayalogu on the AfCFTA. Just two weeks ago, we had a meeting on the preferential trade process for AfCFTA. He had it all figured out. So the news of his passing was beyond shocking to me. I am speechless. All I can say is that a patriot and a very good man is gone. Nigeria has lost another gem. AfCFTA has lost another gem. May his soul rest in peace
