Allan was the much loved husband of Kathy, dad to Laura and Emily and pops to granddaughters Ruby and Martha, he was also a great friend and teammate to many. We will miss his kind, caring, patient and loving presence in our lives, but we are so grateful for the wonderful memories we've shared throughout his life. It was with great sadness I heard the news of Allan's passing. He was an athlete I always admired, particularly for his humbleness in achieving great things over a long and illustrious career. But most of all I loved the man he was. The Baggy who began his running career in baggy shorts. I enjoyed training runs from time to time with Allan and I enjoyed our racing trips, most notably to the European Clubs Championships in 1981 where Tipton finished second behind the mighty Sporting Club of Portugal. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
