I loved our coffee coffee. I loved going to mums house and playing with all nanas sticky notes while he worked in his office. I loved making a mess with all his highlighters and his white papers. Nana always made sure I learnt the importance of charity, and helping out people in need from a small paper cut to having no water. Ayana

Dear Bhabi and family, Assalamo Alaikum Warahmatullahe Wabarakatohu. It is with a deeply saddened heart that I write this message of condolence to you. You have lost a husband and a father. We, specially I, have lost a brother, a comrade and a friend. Many people may have told you good things about our beloved Sheikhjee, all of them being true. He was indeed a special person. Jovial, generous, great friend, and a good advisor. You may have seen him in an angry mood, but I NEVER DID. Even in the worst of situations, I found him to be calm and focused. I had yet to see him shout at anyone. In his presence, I may have lost my temper at others, and perhaps shouted, but he would always calm me down and suggested rational thinking rather than emotional. He was generous..... To his friends, but most of all to the poor and deserving. I had yet to hear him say NO to any project or situation where I had asked for his donations for a cause. And as a paymaster, he was the first to payup his commitments for charitable causes. He would want to go for commiserations to the family of bereaved persons at the earliest opportunity. I personally had asked for his advises many times and always he would guide me wisely and advocated peace rather than provocation. I learnt a lot from him. I am going to miss him. I am going to miss his zabardast sense of humour. I'm going miss his company and advise. May Allah rest our Sheikjee in the choicest of places in his new heavely abode. May Allah receive him with the same love that we have seen him off with. To welcome him in Jannatul Firdous and to make his Station in Heaven of the highest grade. Aameen. Ya Rabbul Alameen. Inna lillahe Wa Inna Ellehe Rajeoun .saber
Dear Adel, Alia and Rukhsana, today will probably be one of the most difficult days you will experience. It is very hard to say goodbye to one’s beloved Father. However, as you will have heard many times today, this is Allah’s will and we must accept it. You must take comfort in the knowledge that Chacha Shaukat was truly a special person: loving, generous, fun, outgoing and always ready to help anyone. He had a really big heart and he loved you all dearly. You were blessed to have him as a Father. He was blessed to have you as his children. I have witnessed the exemplary love, dedication and care that you all showed him throughout his most difficult times. I know you did it out of love but Allah will reward you Insha’Allah for that. Take comfort in prayer and in eachother. Stay true to his wishes and ideals and remain close and united. Keep on the good work he did. Have faith in Allah. May Allah bless Chacha’s soul, grant him mercy and admit him to the best place in Jannat-ul-Firdaus. It has been a very difficult yet time for you all and I pray Allah also gives you all sabr, strength and healing at this most difficult time. I will always miss him. Salaam, Salah
To all the family of Shoki sheikh. Plz accept deep condolences from sabeeya and me. It has been a very sad news and cloud of depression has engulfed all his close friends in Nairobi. Shoki went to the same eastleigh secondary school as myself but was a year ahead of me. Then I met him in Nairobi thru our mutual friend Waheed dar and we stuck instant liking and friendship. This was sometime in 1980. Thereafter we had a chance meeting in Dubai when I was on duty from Kuwait. My duty visits to Dubai were frequent. On one occasion he invited me to his house in new Dubai. I had never visited that part and was pleasantly surprised to see it. So when ever I visited Dubai we used to get together, have meals and once we went to desert safari. The best moments were when we shared Saturday mornings to xchange gossip, news, stories and banter. We remember dinners with music surrounded by the warmth and pleasant company of the whole family. U khurshid were ever welcoming with excellent food and ambiance. These are our dear memories which we shall forever cherish. Not once have I ever seen shoki with any grouse about anything. His warmth was like glue binding us friends together. His generousty in both large and minor events spoke volumes about his character. We shall all miss him. Uncle is such a beautiful human being and close friend to us, and will always remain in our hearts and minds. While it is good to know that he is now in a better place, we're unable to fathom that he has moved on. He has brought so much love to us. Roberto

Dada clearly had a fabulous sense of style and a special place in his heart for each of his children.
This picture reflects dada's positivity and outlook on life. He took his picture and sent it to me before his surgery in Germany. Even though it was a tough situation, he always wanted me to be happy. - Aleena Sheikh
