Oh Sheldon...
You have been taken far too young and far too early. The epitome of calmness and sincerity and unlimited patience. Many of us have work colleagues, but to become a dear and trusted friend to so many, only comes from someone who is so rare and so unique, that it takes a lifetime to meet that person. Some may never meet that person. But Sheldon, you were that person. Your gentleness and subtle humour. Your understanding and compassion. And your smile and your laughter. And the Sheldon look of shock....something that you were used to, given the catastrophes that you would solve so effortlessly.
I had that privilege of working with you and becoming a friend. A friend in Guernsey and a friend that was able to welcome you, Lana, Danielle and Christina into our home, here in the UK. Those magical few hours when you were between flights at Stansted. Our girls were as if they had been BFF. Had we not left Guernsey late 2009, they would have grown up together. I remember the tears when we had to take you all back to the airport later that afternoon. Alas, that was the only time the girls got together, given the geographical miles between us. They were inseparable, just after a few hours. Francesca is now 11. The same age as Danielle. And that is why Sheldon, your passing is just so utterly unfair and so devastating. For Sheldon, you really were the most generous, the most thoughtful and the most kindest being ever to have been born into this world. Rest assured, you will be in our hearts and thoughts forever. My heart is breaking for Lana, Danielle and Christina. They too, are in our hearts and we will be there for them as you have always been there for us. With the utmost of respect Sheldon, we love you x
