Wrisë Booker

Wrisë was a mentor to so many of us who attended the Claremont Colleges. Rest in power, sister.

Wrisë was my muse and my mentor for 40 years. I lost touch with her because I only called her when I needed something or was in trouble. My life became successful because of her. Now I need something again, and I find her gone. I feel terrible and selfish. Forgive me Wrisë. You're finally with Herb, whom you remained loyal too for all these years...

My heart sank when I received a call about the untimely passing of Wrise Booker, whom I considered to be a mentor and friend. Wrise and I came into initial contact about 10 yrs ago when I held a board position for the NAMIC-Carolinas chapter, but it was only 5 yrs ago that I truly got to experience her amazing gifts and talents as part of NAMIC Mentoring Corner calls she spearheaded. Wrise not only lead the team on these calls but provided us with the tools necessary to navigate the corporate water each of us traverse in. She would always say to us, “ Don’t Forget To Carry Your Brag Bags With You Daily”. You would be missed my dear friend but definitely not forgotten, RIP!!

Wrise, You were a great lady, a good friend, and a graceful servant. Thank You. Eddie, Stay encouraged. Accept that it was God’s plan for her. Everyday we live, we are saying goodbye to someone. That’s why words are so important in life only. That’s why Love is so important in life only. We will certainly miss Wrise. She has encouraged all of us to aim higher and strive to do our best. I called Wrisë the "executive whisperer". I had the distinct honor and pleasure of working with over the course of a few years. She saved me from myself and made me a better person and a better leader. She saved my team from a fate of infinite dysfunction. I was not done working with her. I will honor her memory by staying the course she set for me. That's just my story. Her impact on large private and governmental organizations was nothing short of miraculous. She could turn the biggest ships. Her loss is tragic and immeasurable. She had so much good left to do. I miss her energy. I miss her counsel. I miss Wrisë.

I met Wrise when I became 1 of Herb's nurses. The 3 of us developed a very special, wonderful, and life changing friendship. Wrise's kindness, compassion, love and undeniable understanding of how we should treat ourselves and those around us will be missed. My heart is so sad Wrise... But I proudly repeat what I said at Herb's funeral and rebirth..."Everyone should have known someone like Wrise once in their lifetime." I did!! You are in God's arms.

Wrise was a friend, a supportive leader, a tireless worker and a wonderful person. I had the opportunity to work closely with Wrise for a number of years as a Board Member and Past President of CTHRA, and she was intimately involved with the leadership and progression of the association. I am so saddened to hear of her passing, and send prayers and thoughts to her family and loved ones for their loss. I know she will be escorted through the gates above and will continue to guide us. Love you Wrise! RIP

I had the joy of working with Wrise starting in the 80's. She was graceful, well spoken and a real class act. I am saddened to hear of her passing, but am grateful for the opportunity to meet Wrise. Heaven will be Blessed to have her there.
