Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was Queen of the United Kingdom from 6 February 1952 until her death on 8 September 2022. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the second-longest recorded of any monarch of a sovereign country. Her connection to Wolfson College, Oxford goes all the way back to its beginning when Her Majesty arrived to lay the foundation stone at a ceremony on 2nd May 1968.

In an unstable world, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was for a long time a landmark of stability, in a world with increasingly unclear values, she was the keeper of the traditional ones verified by generations, in a too hasty world, she was time stopped in time. She frequently changed her outfit to convey messages to her people and the world, sometimes she changed her royal etiquette, but she remained unchanged in her work as a Queen in the service of her country until the last days.
