Terri Knight

Terri was literally a Mum to me when mine was absent. Holidays camping, transport to any and all church outings with Friday club too. Had the “ becoming a woman biology talk “ not too sure who was most embarrassed her or me. I was scolded by her when I did wrong and though Terri could be fierce I always felt it was from a place of love and concern. Will miss her and my heart breaks for John x

Thinking of you all at this time of lost. Praying that our God of all comfort will be yours especially at this time. Sorry we cannot be with you tomorrow but will be thinking of you all especially you John. Much love in Christ, Peter & Moy

I remember the very first time I spoke with Terri. I was still in Nigeria, before moving to the UK to be with my wife, Yemi, who had already been part of the MREC family before I joined in 2022. That day, I hadn’t heard from Yemi and was worried, so I decided to call the church phone all the way from Nigeria. Terri picked up. She was so warm and reassuring, and she kindly promised to relay my message to John regarding my concern for Yemi. That simple act of kindness left a deep impression on me. When I eventually moved to the UK, I was warmly welcomed into the MREC family, and months later I had the privilege of meeting Terri in person for the first time. Our loss is truly heaven’s gain. I pray that the good Lord will comfort Brother John and the entire family during this very difficult time.

I met Terri on Zoom while filling in the hours during C19. While looking for my 1940's address, 4 Shepherds Lane I discovered Manor Rd and recalling my Sunday School times there I made contact with John & reconnected with MREC via Zoom and consequently met Terri.. I found her to be a very friendly and gracious lady. It has been a pleasure knowing her for these past few years ,albeit from the other end of the world.

Terri was an ever-present in my life, through MREC (and living across the road from us). I remember going round their house before “Friday Club”. She was always so welcoming and warm - I truly felt if I need anything, she would be there. Through her childminding, I believe hundreds of children view her as an adopted grandmother as she welcomed each and everyone person into hers and John’s home. Not to mention her lifelong devotion to Christ - to be so secure in faith for all those years of life is a true inspiration. I am so grateful for that final hug at the church fun day. All my thoughts, prayers and love go to John, her husband, her children and all her grandchildren. She wiill always be remembered and cherished.

Terri has always played a big part in mine and my family's life in so many ways. Right back when I was at school (40+ years ago!), she would often see me running late in the mornings and would take pity on me and give me a lift to school. Terri and John are one of the most loving and hospitable couples that I've ever known. Terri's cooking was superb and I always knew that I'd be well fed at her house. Their parties and regular Sunday night open houses were always great fun. Terri loved people and had a special heart for the underdog and those that were struggling. She had a huge influence on so many lives and so many people heard about Jesus Christ because of Terri's witness. She was so funny as well,especially her stories about John! She ran her race well here on earth and we know with absolute certainty that she is now at rest, free from suffering and pain. She is with Christ, which is far better. Our love and prayers go out to John, Jackie, Steve and John junior and their families as they grieve Terri's passing.

Rest in peace Terri. I will never forget your roast potatoes, no one has ever come close to the way you cooked them.
