Everywhere Stephen went, laughter and generosity abounded. Some of his favorite activities were traveling, going to the beach, playing pranks and telling jokes, writing his daily devotional, “Today’s Good News,” and being goofy with his grandkids. More than anything, Stephen was known for his unwavering faith in Jesus and was a bright light in any room. If you knew him, your life was richer for it. Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Annette; daughters, Jill Harmon, Pamela (Bubbie) Augusta, and Julia (Mike) Kurschner; son, Joshua Harmon; step-daughters, Joanna (Dave) Naylor and Andrea (Michael) Scampini; foster daughter, Delta Lane; grandchildren, Stephen IV (Nicole), Lauren (Luke), Alex, Kate, Alexa, Jack, Liam, David, Noah, and Aidan; and great-grandchildren, Landry and Emma. Stephen will be laid to rest near his son, Stephen Harmon III, at the National Military Cemetery in Canton, GA. If you’d like to make a donation in memory of Stephen, please visit navigators.org.

Stephen Harmon came into my life about four years ago by chance only because we were flying an LSU flag outside our home in Fernandina Beach, FL. Stephen lived in the neighborhood and stopped by and introduced himself as a fellow Tiger fan. We chatted for awhile and he invited me to attend the newly formed Bible Study in our neighborhood. He was full of life, laughter and the love of our Savior Jesus Christ. He was not bashful about showing his feelings and his weekly text messages to our Bible Study group about his experiences in Louisiana and throughout his life were quite interesting. I will miss him and may God welcome a great earthly ambassador to his heavenly resting place.
