Richard Stubbs

Quite possibly the nicest and most positive person I have worked with. Richard was always enthusiastic about what was going on and brought a smile to work with him everyday. I'm going to miss him.

I first met Rich when i joined Dimplex in 2021 and he was always a welcome face for me, considering it was during, and shortly after, the pandemic. He was always checking i was ok and offering support wherever he could. Coming from a training background we clicked and it was our ethos of what it means to help others that made our encounters warm and fun. Sadly though, it was over these 4 years that Rich also became unwell and i witnessed his decline. It was heartbreaking to see, but Rich always remained positive and had a smile until the end. I have fond memories of visiting Rich at his flat to see how he was and it was here that we chatted for hours about his hobbies, especially creating games. I think it was his love for games that reminds me most of him. His search for challenge, fun and togetherness. You will be missed and i send my warmest condolences to your family. May you rest in peace and suffer no more.

Firstly Condolences to Richard’s family who I know he was close to and often spoke about them coming to visit him during the week or weekend which he always looked forward to, I’m sure he will be missed by all. Richard came to work with me in the inventory area and just before Dimplex moved computer system and before his illness had been properly diagnosed. This was a complete change in his career and outside his comfort zone but he got stuck in as he always did and very soon was helping other departments within the business with inventory issues and queries. The last time I was out with Richard was at a company Christmas function and you could see he was itching to get up and dance but was unable to as his illness had taken hold. Richard then moved back to Customer Services but we kept in touch despite mostly working at home. Richard you were one of life’s true gentlemen RIP.

When I joined Dimplex back in Sept 2012, it was Rich who initially trained me before I was thrust onto the phones! From the very start Rich was always helpful and kind to myself and everyone else around us. He was also a good laugh! When we got the opportunity to fly to Ireland to see the factories for the first time, I remember sitting next to him on the plane. About to take off from Southampton airport, the pilot threw the plane around 180 degrees when they got to the end of the runway, turning the DASH 8 plane on a sixpence. This prompted the response from Rich IIRC, questioning "who was driving this thing", suggesting it was a certain member of staff at the time who was renowned for their poor attention to driving! I hate flying at the best of times, but that laugh was well needed and right on cue! I'll miss ya Rich.
