Petra Susan Kidd

Petra I have written on here before, but I think about you often. I think the middle of our lives become so busy but we arrogantly feel we have the luxury of time. We will have the time to reconnect later when things are not so frenetic. I am so heartbroken that you didn’t get the time the rest of us are experiencing. I would love to have had the opportunity to reminisce back to our late teens/early twenties. Especially now as our boys are around that age. Would we have any wisdom to share with them? I don’t know. I am and will be eternally saddened by that loss.

I have just today learnt of Petra’s passing and I am deeply saddened. I can’t believe it. We met in first year at Stirling Uni and held each others hand throughout. She always did the best notes and I know I would recognise her handwriting even to this day. Life can be beyond cruel it is heartbreaking.

I shared an office with Petra at Stirling University as we were working towards our Doctorates at the same time. She was a wonderful and supportive friend. I was very sad to have lost touch with her and am devastated to learn that she is no longer with us. My deepest condolences to her family.

I remember Petra as an open sunny person, a loving and happy attitude to life. I loved her creativity and artistic streak, the home she grew up in is filled with her colourful endeavours, made with patience and love. I’m sure she enjoyed making a home for her boys. I last saw Petra in August last year in Edinburgh when she came over with the boys to stay with her mum and dad and catch up with friends. We saw a show at the festival with her mum and my daughter, had a drink and a chat. She had been starting to feel better, stronger. She really was one of those lovely genuine and spirited women with a good heart and full of optimism. It is hard to accept. Petra, you've left your mark on so many of us. Our thoughts are with your family, such a sad loss.

Tristes momentos para la familia a la que quiero hacer llegar mi más sentido pésame. como compañera y amiga, siempre te llevaré conmigo y agradezco que la vida te pusiera en mi camino, ha sido un privilegio y un honor haber recorrido juntas parte del camino, te fuiste antes pero permanecerás siempre conmigo

Mi querida Petra, eres un tesoro que te pone la vida en tu camino, nos conocimos gracias a la ciencia pero permanecimos gracias a la amistad. Siempre fue una alegría verte, compartir momentos contigo. Maravillosa persona, investigadora y trabajadora ejemplar. Tu sonrisa, dulzura y carácter te definían como un ser lleno de luz. No te digo adiós, solo un "hasta luego",cuida de los que te queremos allá donde estés y mientras seguirás en mi corazón y en mi mente formado parte de mi camino que es la vida
