Peter Lau
xx xx, xxxx - xx xx, xxxx
An employee of Instinet for over 25 years, Peter most recently served as CTO for the last 12. Peter was much more than a colleague and friend. Peter was perhaps the nicest person anyone who had the fortune of knowing him will ever meet. A man who had time for everyone, Peter would willingly give up his time - or the shirt off his back - for friends and strangers alike. Peter made this world a much better place and he will forever be missed for his warmth, generosity, compassion, and sense of humor.

Peter was such a beautiful, caring, polite & most interesting intelligent person to chat with. I miss your yearly downunder trips Peter. Always such a gentleman that talked fondly of his loving wife & adorable cats. Sadly missed but never forgotten.

My sincere condolences to Peter's family. It was a shocking news to me and I still can't believe that. I was very grateful to have the chance to work with Peter even in a short period of time while I am still in Hong Kong. He is a good man, good leader and good friend to all of us. Joining Instinet to meet this awesome friend is definitely a great experience in my life. I have never imagined that I can eat KFC and McDonald with CTO in my early career. He is fun and he is positive, he loves to share funny things with us and I can't feel any barriers between us. At the time that I am typing this, I still can't accept we lost a great man like him. I will always remember the moments that we share and everything I learnt from you. Rest in peace and we love you Peter.

Peter always made time for small talk and some laughs. He had this magical power to make us feel welcomed, acknowledged and just feel good, that we all appreciated. He was a rare one who was genuinely happy to know that you are happy. When I see something funny, that makes me want to share with him. I miss him so much. My thoughts are with his family.

My sincere condolences, I rarely got to see Peter as a distant relative, but I remember all the times I did, he made me feel included and made the night special even though we had such a big age gap. He is missed, may he rest in peace. Please take care Lau family

Words can not tell how grieved I was to hear the news. I am still attempting to fill the sorrowful times with the joys and memories with Peter. I am regretful for not spending enough time with him, with excuses for being busy. Peter was gone too soon, but he is always in our hearts. Losing a loved one is painful and never easy to let go. May my deepest condolence can alleviate the sorrow. I hope that God brings you peace and comfort. May God bless the departed soul.

I still cannot accept you have left us, I still hope one day you can come out from your room and say hi. Already get used to each day we talk each other, you teaching me those “Old” Cantonese slang, showing me those funny toys in your office room, telling me the story for those name I spot in the office, teaching me any knowledge which I didn’t know, mentoring me anything I feel confused. You are such kindness and always try to help, I am such lucky to have you as my boss, but why just such short period. But happy thing is you finally can take the long rest and one day we will meet again. I will show you how I progress and you will be proud of me.

My deepest condolences to Peter's family. I still cannot believe this lovely gentleman is no longer with us. I still seem to see him around his office "home" and we can chat about food and cats. I will always remember his smiles and jokes even during the most stressful days. He has taught me a lot although I'm not always working with him. I'm sure that he's a very good mentor for people who worked for him. I am grateful to have the experience to work with Peter in the past 9 years and I am very much honored. Peter, this is not the end of the journey. This is just the start of your wonderful and joyful ever life. I am sure we will meet again someday. Rest in peace.

I miss Peter and am very grateful to have had him influence my life. Peter's wisdom, creativity and kindness became legends in my family as I retold his stories to them. Peter would share pictures of the fancy vehicles in the garage because he knew my son had a passion for cars. My son really lit up when he heard Peter was flying the Microsoft Flight Simulator and had wondered if they might fly together some day. My family never met Peter in person but they all knew some part of Peter. Peter was so much more than a co-worker and mentor; Peter was good.
