Oh Mazin, you leave us too soon and so tragically. The memories of our time working and playing together in Kigoma filled my vision when I heard of your untimely passing. I can still see in my mind-eye your tall frame energetically walking up and down Mzemema hill, instantly recognizable in your beloved tracksuit. I remembered fondly our badminton sessions at Tahlil's and how you would sweat so profusely and had to clean your glasses every so often; and the weekends hanging out at Jacobson's Beach, relaxing and swimming in the clear water of Lake Tanganyika. I knew you were happier moving to Nairobi and be able to bring your family, it saddened me to read about you like this. You enhanced my understanding of the financial side of our organization via our numerous talks as friends and colleagues, and it's such a tremendous loss for people who knew you that you are gone. Rest in peace my friend.

I remember Mazin as a very kind person, friendly colleague and well versed RMO, who would always help in finding a solution to whatever issue we faced ... if in Erbil, Baghdad, Amman or Nairobi, he was well liked and appreciated by all ... A huge loss to IOM and Humanity !

This is indeed very sad news. Mazin was one of those who always gave his best when doing his job as well as just when being a friend. That's how he made a mark in all of us. He talked when needed and kept quiet when he had to. He joked and made everyone laugh, and also spoke on serious office matters to help find solutions. He was always helpful and caring while also passionate. May he Rest In Peace and may his goodness to others be returned in-kind to his beloved family that he left behind. Rest in Peace, Mazin.
