Rev James Tomlin, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and cherished community member, peacefully passed away on the 11th of October, 2023. Born on the 9th of February, 1929, James lived an immensely fulfilled life of 94 years guided by unwavering principles of kindness, integrity, and service to others. His legacy of love continues to live on through his surviving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Rev Tomlin's contributions to his community and his family's lives will forever be held in high regard. We celebrate his life & honor his memory by continuing to uphold the values he so keenly exemplified. May his soul rest in peace.

My grand uncle Jim was a Wonderful uncle to our mother, Hyacinth Tomlin. He loved her so much and visited numerous times per year. Every time I spoke with him, he would name my sib lings one by one and asked how they are doing. The last time I spoke with him, he said he was ready to go home. I asked why and he said he does not want to get to the stage where he becomes a burden or not being able to do things by himself. . R.I P uncle Jim.

Saddened I am unable to be present at my last surviving Uncle's funeral. I have such wonderful memories of Uncle Jim both in the UK and Jamaica. He like his brothers were very opinionated and I can remember on visit to Jamaica I was wearing quite a short dress and he said to me "do misses nuh worry wear back that short dress". I my late husband, Harris, and Sis Ruby had such a laugh. Anyone who knew my Uncle would understand why it was so funny especially as Patois was rarely spoken. Although having left the UK several decades ago, Uncle Jim still prided himself on speaking the "old" English. A caring and gentle man he will be missed by my children, granddaughter and all the Tomlin family in the UK. Rest in Eternal Peace my beloved Uncle Jim. Janet

My condolences to the Tomlin family. I have known this godly gentleman, a stalwart of the faith and a Champion in God's army since 1965 when I came to reside in this country, England. Through the exemplary life of my big Sister Lou, I acknowledged the Lord as my Saviour at the age of 18 years. This was under the leadership of Rev James Tomlin who was the Pastor of the Catford Church, The Co-op Hall in Catford, London. I grew under His Pastoral care as my earthly Shepherd until he retired to Jamaica in 1973. To the point that I became god-mother to his last child he had in England, Colin Tomlin. It is with great sadness that I am saying, sleep on and take your rest Rev James Tomlin and that I will meet you in the morning in the sweet bye & bye. You were my first Pastor who took tremendous care of us as young people back then. From the depths of my heart, may you (R.I.G.E.P.P) Rest In God's Eternal Perfect Peace, until we meet again.
