Herman Heyns

I just heard about Herman accident and am totally shocked about it, what a loss of a fantastic person. Always happy, friendly and so kind, I will definitelly miss our good chat about S.A, rugby and wines. My deepest condolences to all the family.

What sad news. Herman was so enthusiastic, and rightly so, about the progress his company Anmut is making. It was his energy, decisiveness and vision that made Herman so exceptional. We spoke just before Christmas and were due to have dinner in mid February. I had shared with him work I am focused upon. Needless to say Herman had great knowledge on the matter, knew many people involved and was very keen to help. Also, I can relate to the tributes given by both his daughter Gabby and one of the other speakers at his memorial service. His commitment was infectious, his friendship genuine, and his capacity to drink red wine remarkable. In fact following one of the last dinners we had, my ride home by bike was challenging! Herman will be missed by many. His talents in data and its effective use will be missed in business. My thoughts are with his family who I am sure will miss him most. As a new employee at EY, I was still finding my feet. Herman reached across service lines and showed me how to build a community. Ever grateful for all his kindness, direction and leadership. May his soul rest in peace.

The exit from Canopy, a company I founded, was one of the most painful experiences of my life. It was akin to loosing a child. Over the 15+ years that I have known Herman, he has been a mentor, a dear friend, and a source of inspiration to do right - no matter the circumstance. Herman is one of the kindest and most generous souls I have known. In 2022, Herman went out of his way to help me get back on my feet and to live each day with fully - with gratitude and purpose. I will our monthly catch-ups; the banter; the wine and the nuggets of wisdom Herman would so casually impart during those conversations. Thank you for being a source of inspiration. Forever in our hearts. RIP. My deepest condolences are with the family.

Herman was an absolute hero and legend in the worlds of Data and Finance. He recruited me as his successor at KPMG and we had the opportunity to have many interesting times including some famous and infamous projects and quite a lot of alcohol. We got to work together again as he founded and grew Anmut - a totally pioneering business driving the Data / Value challenge. A genuinely lovely guy, and so sad to have his life cut short!. Eddie
