Harry Baxter

What a guy, what a skier. I remember going to Harry Baxter's Ski School at Sugarloaf in the 1960's while attending Gardner Defoe's Sugarloarefs Ski Dorm. I moved to Jackson Fall of 1974, right after Harry moved here. Harry got me my 1st job with JHSC in December and I retired in June 2021, thanks to Harry guiding me thru all the different jobs at JHSC. Our family used to see Martha at St John's Church while they lived in this side, Harry was always skiing on Sundays. Harry mentored many in the Marketing Dept. and they coined many great taglines to promote skiing at Jackson Hole. Thanks for the memories Harry!

I met and worked for Harry in 1979 with many years to follow. He was a great boss, teacher, mentor, and most of all a friend who gave me a chance.Harry my friend. To the family I thank you for sharing your dad with me and time heals all. My fondest memories is skiing with him and he only had one gear. FAST, and walking out of the office at 2:30 and see how many Apres Vous we could get. My heartfelt consolation to Harry's family. I first met Harry in 1979 as a fellow ski racer from New England fresh off the UMass ski team, looking to breaking into the world of Pro Ski Racing. Harry was up in the "tower" at JHMR and graciously welcomed me and issued a comp lift ticket anytime I wanted to ski the big one. We would often run into each other at a different skiing events. I moved my family over the pass to Teton Valley in 1995 to start Peaked Sports and was thrilled to continue see Harry from time to time. "Are you still racing Masters" we would inquire. Always looked up to Harry. He was one of those "father figures" to me as a young man making his way in the world and always brought a big smile to my face and joy to my heart.

My condolences Martha and family on Harry's passing. My late husband Joe and I enjoyed time at your home in Jackson when we came and skied. Prayers for all of the family at this sad time.

I don't remember Harry but my father Don Halpin spoke of him often. His name always came up in our house during any skiing conversation. He definitely was a legend in our house. May he rest in peace. My sincere condolences to his family.

We are so sorry to find out that Harry has passed. Our thoughts, prayers, and condolences to Martha, Dan, Wanda, and all the family. We will never forget the fun times shared between our families. I'll never forget our times at Mount Whittier.

What a guy. I know he would lke to be remembered as a competetive skier and good trout fisherman, but he was a GREAT elk hunter. Lots of wonderful memories of Harry in the back country. A life well lived. He will be missed.

The fact that you and Martha made a difference to so many is a lasting tribute. Job well done, we will take from here.
