George Albert BURKE

George was one of my 'mentors' when I first joined UU close to 8 years ago. He was always a kind, very unselfish gentleman. I have always enjoyed chatting with him about everything under the Sun. His great advice to me, which I still and will remember for a long time to come, is to not take things seriously, and that family is of utmost importance. George will be deeply missed as a colleague and as a friend. RIP.

George's untimely passing is still such a shock. His dear wife, Camille, son, George Jr., his mum, brother and sister, have been in my thoughts and prayers since 15th March. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I send strength to cope going forward. I will always remember George in the Cell Biology Laboratory - he loved being there. There was nothing he did not know - a super intelligent man. He had a lovely presence. His commitment to his students and PhD researchers was fierce - he truly dedicated himself to them. What a mentor he was for them. His loss will be forever felt at Ulster University. I can only imagine his loss from the home. George Jr. - your daddy doted on you, you were his pride and joy. May you and your mummy find strength in the memories you hold. Rest in peace dear George.

George was truly generous with time, help and patience. Kind, pragmatic and a scholar. An inspirational educator whose dedication to his students never faltered. George is truly missed. My heartfelt condolences to George’s family.

I found George to be a very funny and insightful person. He was always very positive and collegiate at work. I passed him many times in the corridors of Jordanstown and Belfast campuses and we would always speak, usually about the things where the only response was to shrug our shoulders and smile. Very much missed - one of the good guys taken much too soon.

I was sorry to hear of George’s passing. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students. May his memory be a comfort to all who knew him.

Larger than life - great sense of humour, well respected by academic colleagues, his students and those in industry that he engaged with - above all a loyal friend and one of the good guys who was taken way too soon. I always loved hearing George's laugh, it always made me smile. He always had time for a chat and always gave great advice. He was a kind, thoughtful, smart and funny and he will be missed by many across the University, including myself. My deepest condolences to his family.
