Gareth Rees

Gareth was a kind-hearted person who helped us all in so many ways. I first worked with Gareth in 2014, when we organised the School student induction together. We were both new to the role, and organising induction was our first time, but he was so supportive and dedicated to the task. The whole event went extremely well, and I was very grateful to Gareth for all his help. Over the years we would chat about all sorts of topics, and he loved it when I brought Hettie, my friend’s Jack Russell, into the office, when the School had its ‘bring your dog to work day’. He kept asking when she was going to come back in

Thank you for being my partner-in-crime in tackling all the oddities and complexities of assessment, and for our many hour-long 'quick calls' that somehow found their way away from whatever the query was supposed to be to talking about your excitement at having a newborn niece (and the possibilities of having to dress up as a princess!) You were an amazing colleague, who was tactful, patient and strategic with whatever was thrown our way - and like so many others have noted, you made such a great impression with our team in an all-too-short time. Still very much thinking of you and your family and friends, and hope you're resting well G. Miss you, mate.

G Rage! You weren't just a colleague, you were a dear friend who I miss dreadfully. You were always there to offer advice and support to us as a friend, colleague, and to the students. Nothing was too much trouble. I am trying not to be sad, as I know you would really hate that!! I will keep doing the Euromillions in your memory!! Until we meet again Lynwen xx

Gareth was such a kind colleague with a wonderful sense of humour and lots of patience for the likes of me who always had more questions... He was so knowledgeable and helpful, and so kind. He is sorely missed. My deepest condolences to his family. May he rest in peace!

My husband (Richard aka Krusty) knew Gareth for over 20 years, they both have a love for Warhammer and board games. Richard often came moaning that Gareth had won the game .....again! As a work colleague, nothing was too much to help his colleagues. He will be missed, and has left a hole in our lives, both in work and personal. Rest in peace Gareth.

Gareth it was a pleasure to work alongside you, even if only for a short while. You were kind, passionate and a real gent. You’ll be sorely missed by us all, rest in peace x

Gareth was such a helpful, kind, patient and committed colleague and good friend to so many in our hubs and student services. He would jump up from his chair as soon as he saw you coming into the hub to see how he could help you. He provided superb support and guidance to us all but especially to programme directors, module leaders and of course our students. He always focused on them and helped them however he could, often going out of his way and staying behind to sort out problems for them. He gave such attention to detail and offered many ideas about how we could do things differently. Gareth was an inspirational colleague and he will be very badly missed in the Business School. Our thoughts are with all his family and friends.

My thoughts and prayers are with Gareth's family and friends. He was a caring, supportive and patient man, especially trying to help me with the excel spreadsheets. He will be missed.
