Engr. Ekpenyong Bassey

Ekpenyong (Daddy) was born in Calabar on the 1st of October 1941 to a small and close knit family. Daddy eventually moved to Cameroon but returned to attend secondary school. He always had the aspiration of becoming an engineer which led him to move to Lagos to pursue and successfully complete his studies as a trained engineer at P&T school. He then moved to England where he furthered his studies in Electrical Engineering and successfully pursued a Masters Degree in Physics. After achieving his purpose of furthering his education, he returned to Nigeria where he spent many years as a senior engineer at Nigerian `Airways after which he retired in the `United Kingdom. He was a warm, compassionate and caring father of two who loved his children; a love and compassion he shared with everyone who he knew. He was mild-mannered but decisive and had a good sense of humour. Tina Turner was his favourite artist and a jovial smile would meet you whenever he heard her songs. This would give you the distinct pleasure of him sharing with you the events of her life story, a tale he loved to share with those he loved.
