Our life is a journey, and each of us has his own path. Along the way, we meet different fellow travellers, each leaving a special and meaningful impression. Our reception team was fortunate to share part of this journey with Denis. His warm and kind smile, his friendliness and his open heart will remain in our memories. Sincere condolences to Denis' family, i was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. Like many i have worked with Denis over many years in Glasgow and have lots of fond memories, he always met you with a smile and a story to tell. In the lab he was very generous with chocolate gifts for us, which was always well received. i will greatly miss him.

To Denis’ family, I was deeply saddened to hear of Denis’ passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this very difficult time. I had the privilege of working closely with Denis over many years, and he was not only an exceptional colleague but a dear friend. He had a rare ability to combine deep knowledge with kindness, humor, and genuine care for the people around him. Whether supporting colleagues, mentoring young engineers, or simply sharing a laugh, Denis made a lasting impression on everyone he worked with. He spoke often and with immense pride about his family, particularly his joy in being a grandfather. His warmth and constant smile were a reflection of the love he held for those closest to him. He also shared many stories of happy times, especially his cherished trip to Venice with his wife — memories that clearly meant a great deal to him. Denis’ generosity, integrity and commitment to people will not be forgotten. He leaves behind not only a strong professional legacy, but countless personal memories of friendship, laughter and kindness. To be honest, i have had no idea on how to start writing. Receiving a call on Friday to be informed that Denis had passed away the day before came as a complete shock. Having talked to him during the course of the week and working close together in the last couple of weeks of him supporting the factory trial here in Zaandam. Having worked close with him on a daily basis during the two years within Norit on a multitude of different topics for the production location here in Zaandam. Has been a time in which we aligned on a multitude of topics both personally and professionally. He will be missed for his supporting and mentoring role, which he was moving into and giving form more and more. He will be missed for all of the discussions that will remain unfinished and did not have any closure due to his sudden departure. On a personal note, confectionary and or food was a thing we talked about together and aligned and did not align, talking about stews. I think he still owes me a cassoulet of which he joked that he could not bring it with him through the airport. I myself having worked in the confectionary industry of cocoa butter replacements we aligned on the technical details of the production process and the tempering of chocolate, but he could never agree on its use was always fiercely against it. Denis I am deeply chocked you suddenly past away. I cannot imagine Norit without you. We did not closely work together, but I loved your focus, energy and humor when you were in Zaandam. You strongly supported the site with your critical vision and expertise. You will be enormously missed within the company. Thank you for knowing you and the beautiful memories you left behind.

I was deeply shocked to hear about the passing of Denis. I had the chance on occasion to work hard but also enjoy the time together with Denis in Glasgow. Denis sunny and positive but mostly honest character - Denis used to say to me: "Christoph, I want to be honest with you, but...!" - will always be remembered. Although we only met once face2face in Klazienaveen, you have left a lasting positive impression on me. Unfortunately there was not enough time to execute some projects together. I wish all family and friends of Denis that you wil find peace and comfort during the mourning process.

Denis was not only a valued colleague but also a true mentor to me. He was always open to help, to listen, and to guide. His kindness, professionalism, and humanity touched many lives. He will be deeply missed and always remembered with gratitude.
