I think of Ben and your family often and all I can say is, I am sorry from the bottom of my heart. I ache inside at the idea that such a beautiful soul is no longer here with us all. To know him was to love him. His humour, quick wit, kind but matter of fact statements, patience, authenticity and contagious outbursts of laughter were a few of many qualities that stood out and made him special. He was a hilarious, sweet, considerate, creative, open minded, hard working person that had so much to offer life. I had the opportunity to work alongside him, and the privilege to call him a friend. He offered advice, support and a safe space in what was one of the worst years of my life. I will always be grateful to have known him, I miss him so much and I hate that he is gone. Over the last few years, I can be anticipating a hard day, and hear a familiar song he played come on. I've been scared for medical appointments and tests at the hospital, and had strangers come up to me uttering phrases I only heard him say. I remember crying thinking of him, shortly after he had passed, only to have a cardinal land on my windowsill and tap the glass before flying away. I know universally we all tend to believe in something different in terms of what comes after this life, but I have to believe for someone like Ben... someone who genuinely and effortlessly showed everyone how he cared, that there is peace, there is beauty, and there is healing. Thank you always, Ben.

We are deeply saddened by your loss and wish to extend our condolences. Ben was such a kind-hearted person who showed great courage and grit in following his passion and creativity as a chef. He will always be a reminder for us to be true to ourselves and to follow our heart. His memory will live on for us as we are sure it will for many others.
