Andrew Lopata

Andrew was born in Peoria, Illinois on November 9, 1963 to Andrew A. Lopata, Jr. and Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) Lopata. She survives. Also surviving are a sister Kathy (and Jack) Magnone, a brother Mike (and Lynda) Lopata, eight nieces and nephews, and one grand-niece. He was preceded in death by his father. He graduated from Eureka High School in 1981. After a brief time at Illinois Central College, he embarked on a career that spanned a dizzying assortment of occupations from plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general contractors to insurance adjuster, cyber-security monitor and political blogger. He also taught English in China and volunteered at the Mission Mart in Bloomington. He lived in central Illinois, Chicago, California and Harbin, China. Andrew was a member of Eureka Christian Church, and prized his faith and family deeply. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed all sports and was a passionate fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He passed too soon and will be deeply missed. Our confidence is that he departed “to be with Christ, which is far better.”

It is awkward for me to be sending this condolence so late. However, I count Andrew as perhaps my very best childhood friend. Seeing a message from Paul Shrier really brought back memories. I lived about a half mile away from Andy, Betty and Andrew around 7th thru 10th grades. Andrew and I were always up to something, usually no good. I have been in Sacramento, CA the last 30 some years and did not get to visit Illinois very often. My brother and I did visit in 2016, oddly enough, and I tried to get to see Andrew but had to settle for a phone conversation and, wonderfully, a visit with Betty in Eureka. You can imagine my shock, sadness and surprise when, several weeks after returning home, Betty informed me that Andrew was gone. What can anyone say. Goodbye my old friend. I have many good memories and pray that God has received your soul because of Christ’s finished work at Calvary.

My condolences go out to the family. I am so sorry too hear of the lost of a dear loved one to this family. Dealing with this situation can be the hardest thing to face. God's word the bible gives heartfelt and true meaning for ones sleeping in death; Revelation 21: 3,4 says: 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” God also promises a hope for ones to have life again at John 5: 28,29a : Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out.
