Aunty Alero you literally bulldozed your way into our hearts. You were always jovial, ever ready to help. I remember how people would sometimes say we looked alike, asking "is that your mother?" or "is that your sister?" Well to me you were my older sister. I'll forever miss you, keep resting ❤

TRIBUTE TO A LIFE OF QUALITY AND IMPACT-ALERO PESSU-OKURERIE (05/08/1981-06/07/2021) The reality of Alero’s transition is indeed a most excruciating bitter pill to swallow. But we must submit to the supreme will of the Almighty God who takes away the righteous home to protect them from the evil to come (Isaiah 57:1). Alero, although your life was short but it was impactful and purposeful. One cannot be close to Samuel Zibiri, SAN, your boss; and not know you. Beyond being the Head of Chambers and the Engine Room of El Shaddai Chambers, you were by all means the Chief of Staff to Mr. Zibiri, SAN. You were fit for every assignment - law-related and otherwise. You were dependable, loyal to a fault, dedicated, forthright, efficient, selfless and highly resourceful. Your energy was amazing. Your ability to manage and organize human and material resources was second to none. The last post on your WhatsApp display page is a Chadwick Boseman quotation that says: “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything You gave me.” Yes, I attest to this fact that you deployed your talent, your gifts and all that God deposited in you to serve Him and humanity to the best of your ability. You touched lives positively. My wife and I cannot forget how you availed us of your legendary interior decoration skills to beautifully set up our home in Ibadan. As a litigation lawyer, you handled your matters before me with impressive professionalism. You were a thoroughbred, brilliant, and urbane lawyer. You always demonstrated distinctive understanding of the law. Your sense of decency, calm disposition and attention to details endeared me to you. The true value of life is not in its duration but in it’s donation. It was the American journalist/novelist, Chuk Palahnuik, who wrote: “We all die. The goal is not to live forever; the goal is to create something that will.” Alero, you will forever live in the hearts of those who, by providence, God allowed you cross paths with you in your lifetime. Your legacies of hard work; godliness; selfless service to mankind; good leadership; honesty and uprightness shall continue to resonate through generations beyond you. My family and I offer heartfelt condolences to your husband, your mother, your siblings, the El Shaddai Chambers family; the Family Worship Centre family, relatives and friends left behind to celebrate your exit. We take solace and pride in the fact that you lived an exemplary and qualitative life. Adieu Alero! Hon. Justice Olukayode A. Adeniyi High Court of the FCT, Maitama, Abuja.

Dear Sis, you were so full of life and very bubbly. You always had a smile. You made a mark on the world. You stamped your existence in the sands of time. You were the best version of yourself while you were on this side of heaven. You know I still have the text messages I sent you when I heard you were in Kano. God loves you more and you are in a beautiful place. Your passion for God was contagious. We will always miss you but we know you are resting and smiling down on us. Thank you for sharing the best of you with us while you were here. Adieu Sis.

To my dearest big sister,; I dont have the right words to describe what vacuum you have left since your departure you were an angel to me and a part of my family; you were such a beautiful, caring, generous, kind, strong willed woman; Ever so endearing ,ever so brilliant and honest, had her heart worn on her sleeves. You had a golden eye for things and were always happy to give out what you had. You made your mark on earth and am sure heaven has gained an angel. May your legacy live on and may your soul rest in eternal peace. Love you so much. Till we meet again

I remember Alero's warm smile, she was always eager to speak the Tiv dialect with me and I would blush in response because she spoke better than me. I didn't know she wasn't Tiv till I visited her Dad in the hospital then. I remember a strong woman and very generous too. Those days when she cared for her Dad while we prayed for his recovery. I don't know how she did it but I admired her courage, strength & generosity. I was so sad when I learned she was ill and I prayed fervently for her healing. I missed seeing her around. Nonetheless, I thank God that though her life was brief she lived well. She cared and loved people genuinely. Alero's memory is forever blessed. Fare thee well Sister Alero till we meet again.

“Hey g’ma”, that’s how I began every text, note and message to you. It’s been almost 2 weeks since you left and I’m still in shock and disbelief. God brought you into my life at a time when I needed a mentor, sister, friend, colleague, teacher, friend and leader. You were all of that to me and much more. You taught me style, organization, comportment, leadership, generosity, kindness, commitment to God, love for nature, forbearance, loyalty, humility and how to live every moment. My story is incomplete without you in it. I’ll always love you. You’ll always have a place in my heart. You’re alive in me. Can’t wait to spend eternity together. Rest on beautiful.

My beloved Alero! It is so strange starting this chat without my usual "How are you doing, Alero?". I almost did that but suddenly woke up to the reality that you have changed residence and form; from mortality to immortality. Glory to God. I will forever cherish your smiles, friendly and cheerful personality. You made the Nigerian Law School Bwari, glow with warmth and palpable love. Your love for the Lord and things of God was remarkable. Meeting you again in church after Law school was such a happy reunion; when i became your District Pastor it was joy overload. You were an outstanding and award winning Care Group Leader and made my work stress free. Having you visit my family again and again with gifts endeared you to our children. You impacted humanity positively; you lived well!! Undoubtedly, this space will be too small to capture every moment we shared with you... You will always be remembered from this side of life. Heaven in deed has gained an Angel that once lived with us in a human form. Much love, Alero

Big Sis, you taught so many things I can't count. You tried to teach me how to wear makeup (never stuck)...lol, you taught me how to wear my first heels (that stuck), I looked up to you for dress sense, poise and carriage. We always disagreed to agree. I remember those times we sang under the stars or even in church. How I used to talk about you to all those around me. I still feel like it a trick or that you'd wake up. I'm numb and crying is hard, so to honor your memory by praising God. I love you and always will. Forever in my heart. Love you. GBUBEMI

TO MY DEAR HOC, ALERO I. PESSU My Dear HOC, Alero, It is quite disheartening for me to be writing this tribute at a time like this when we need you the more. Your death, no doubt has left a heavy blow on the faces of many that knew you while you lived. You had your own unique way of putting smiles on the faces of everyone that came in contact with you. You were simply amazing. Just like Tabitha (Dorcas) in the Bible, you were an embodiment of mercy. You made sacrifices and give to charity as if you had the whole world. My Dear HOC, Alero Working with you for over four years as the Principal Secretary of Samuel O. Zibiri, SAN & CO, El-Shaddai Chambers was one of my greatest delights; and not having further time with you is one of my greatest regrets. You were more than the Head of Chambers and an administrator. You were a mother, a sister, a prayer warrior, a comedian, a mentor and, above all, a strong disciplinarian. You knew how to appreciate people’s efforts. You always stood for, and by people in any situation, good or bad. You were full of life and as cheerful as ever. We wish you could last longer. If tears could bring you back, I know you would have lived. If money could bring you back, I am sure we wouldn’t have lost you. But in all, we take solace in the fact that you have departed from this world to a better place. We don’t have choice than to totally surrender to the will of GOD ALMIGHTY. My Dar HOC, Alero You have finished your work and gone To mansions of glory so fair Where the sickness and sorrow gone And death can never come over there. In good care of Jesus we know you are Precious and loving child of God You have run the distance, kept the faith And won the glorious victory crown Sleep on, My Dear HOC, Alero Sleep and take thy rest Lay down thy head upon the Savious’s breast We love thee well but Jesus loves you best Goodnight! Goodnight!! Goodnight!!! Thank you for the lives you touched positively Thank you for the numerous gifts we enjoyed from you Thank you for your constant wise counsel and moral boost Above all, thank you for being so amazing. Keep resting in the bosom of GOD ALMIGHTY May GOD give us the grace to bear this huge loss. Amen. From Faith, David & El Gideon Chimeziendu
