Vishna Rasiah

19 juli 1971 - 23 april 2020

Dr Vishna Rasiah, beloved husband, father, brother, son and a well-respected and much-loved colleague at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s, has sadly passed away following treatment for COVID-19. Dr Rasiah, known to all his friends as Vish, was a Consultant Neonatologist at Birmingham Women’s Hospital and was highly-regarded across the Midlands as part of his role as Clinical Lead for the regional Neonatal network. Vish was a proud husband and father. His wife Liza said: “We’re devastated at losing our beloved Vish. He was such a loving husband and father to our beautiful daughter Katelyn, and much loved son and brother to our family in Malaysia and Trinidad. His whole family meant the world to him, and he absolutely doted on Katelyn. Vish loved his work; to him it was so much more than a job and his colleagues are part of our family too. He treated every patient and family he cared for as his own; I couldn’t have been prouder of him. I would like to thank the staff at Worcestershire Royal Hospital for the kindness, compassion and the care that they have provided to us over an incredibly difficult past few weeks.”

Dear Liza and Katelyn , The emptiness that lies within our hearts is immense and no words can suffice to describe our Vish- who was an incredibly beautiful person, par excellence. My first encounter with Vish was when he contacted me at Bristol and asked me to come to Birmingham and I have always since then seen a halo around Vish -The boss!! who also was my brother. His brilliance was laced with humility and he had this uncanny ability to encompass and include everyone. Exemplary teacher, mentor to so many , compassionate towards his patients and their families, he was always available to all with his pearls of wisdom and his gentle smile . His photographic genius have brought such joys to many celebrations and daily events within the wider neonatal family and will remain as another of his legacy . He absolutely thought the world of both you and Katelyn and was very proud of you Katelyn. Your legacy lives on in the many lives you saved Vish and the hearts you touched and will continue. You live in my heart and I will miss you …. Love and Hugs Manobi and Vinoy
