Terence Brian Hobbs

21 november 1953 - 27 december 2021

A loving father, grandfather and partner. ABOUT THIS MEMORIAL Terence Brian Hobbs, Terry, (age 68) died peacefully at home on the 27th December 2021 after a short and brave battle with both lung and brain cancer. He was born on 21st November 1953 to Stanley Horace Hobbs and Kathleen Hobbs, nee Orchard. Terry grew up in the camp area of St Albans with his large family and went to Beaumont School. After finishing school, Terry trained along side his brothers to become a plaster. He then worked in a furniture assembly factory where he injured his back. After many years he then returned to work for NCP and finally St Albans District Council in their Russell Avenue car park. He really enjoyed his job and spoke proudly of his colleagues. He met Pauline Margaret Ralph in St Albans, where they lived on the same street growing up. They were married at St Albans Registry Office on 24th March 1973. Terry and Pauline are parents of two children: Andrew (1973) and Amanda (1979); Grandparents to four grandchildren: Corey (2008), Finlay (2009), Riley (2011) and Rebecca (2011). Sadly, Terry and Pauline grew apart when the children left home and they separated in May 2007. In July 2021 Terry started dating his soulmate, Jeannette (Jay) Joseph. Little did he know that she was his angel in life and death. A devoted and caring person who was with him right until the end. Jay will always be a part of our family and we are forever grateful to her for looking after Dad so selflessly. Terry devoted himself to his family and they brought him his greatest joy. Terry is remembered for his kind and loving personality, but also for his gentle and ever-present sense of humour. He was never late and enjoyed passing time singing karaoke, doing puzzles, watching war films and battling with sudoku. He showed compassion and love to all and took delight in all kinds of people. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4th at 12:30pm at St Paul's Church in St Albans. The burial is for immediate family only and the wake is invite only due to numbers and covid safety. Donations can be made to three charities of Terry's choice in his memory: CCHS UK (his grandchild, Finlay suffers with this condition), Rennie Grove Hospice and Macmillan. All donations via this link will be split between the three charities. www.gofund.me/13f0352b

I have know Terry for years through Karaoke and various pubs. Mainly Malta and Jolly and White Horse. We would bump into each other at other Karaoke venues. He was there for me in times I was troubled. We chatted in June via messenger and I ended up with him on 23rd July 2021. Went round and challenged him to a game of scrabble. We laughed the whole evening. Then we went away for a day in Great Yarmouth a couple of weeks later which was what we both needed. I remember Terry always laughing and Telling me how it was didn't mince his words. We cried together, laughed together, said how much we loved each other and in the end he was my soul mate, best friend. Terry you are in my heart and loved forever. You loved me like no other. I am so glad we had Memories I can hold onto. Till we meet again. Xx Love ya Bub xx Ebbonni loved you so much too and you loved her. She was always with you. A special dog. Loved the ball. Drove you nuts in a funny way but kept you going. Xxx I am so glad I have the Hobbs family with me now. Xxx We couldn't believe we had the same birthday week. Xx
