I cannot believe the news I got today. My long term friend and fellow music fan Tony has gone. There is a void in my heart today - slowly it is filing with memories - heading to Elephant Fayre to see The Cure with hardly any money, walking into The Higsons dressing room to talk contract riders on a gig, speeding up the M3 on a Saturday night to dance to Jay Strongman at The Warehouse or Wendy May at the T&C, talking guitars and punk and funk. We both worked for Our Price Records at one time and had a mad flat share in South London. So much over such a long time.....my heart is breaking here for Magda & Rose who I never got to meet. He loved you both so much - he was the best of friends and I'm not gonna lie I'm gonna miss him. I love you Tony D - always will - the Earth feels a darker place today Rest in Power. ✊
What a warm and kind man. I remember meeting him for the first time at a [PIAS] conference. He was one of those people you immediately feel comfortable with. It was always a pleasure seeing and talking to you about music and work, but also about the snow in Poland vs. the tiny bit of snow in Belgium (and how we made fun about how that causes the entire country to turn into chaos). You'll be greatly missed. All my thoughts go out to his friends and family.
Having know Tony since the mid '80s when he was a young man playing bass in a friends band in the UK, it gladdened my heart over the years to see him carve a career in the music business. He was a gentle yet passionate human being and my heart goes out to his friends and family in Poland.
I only met Tony a few times at conference as our paths rarely crossed professionally, but what a great guy. We bonded over a shared love of running, and I enjoyed our conversations immensely. He was open, honest, direct, and full of life, and he listened too. I will miss him. All strength to everyone.
Tony Tony Tony. I’m lost for words. You were the most passionate, driven and professional colleague – whilst being kind and helpful to those around you. You were ever ambitious, always taking on more – yet you always delivered. Working with you was a joy, and just got better over time. I particularly appreciated that you were always available. Always had the right answers, or the right banter when things got a bit .. silly. You loved music. You loved your job. You loved people. And we, and our artists, loved you. I will miss you my friend. A lot
Tony, you were incredibly kind, considerate and a passionate music fan -- many of the qualities that make our company the special place it can be, because of good ones like you. You'll be missed, more than we can ever imagine. Love to all your family and friends.
An international conference in Brussels… My finance colleagues and I wanted to meet Tony physically after a lot of e-mail contacts over the years. I saw him and said “Tony!” Before I could introduce myself, he asked “how do you know who I am?”. I just laughed. “Would be easier if we had a label with our name on it…. Nah, I would have exchanged it with someone else anyway “, he said. Charlotte and I finally told him our names and a nice chat started. A small memory in the ocean of all the great stories most of you have about him… Lots of love
