Patrick Walker

2 februari 1965 - 17 september 2020

Patrick, Pat or Paddy as he was known to his many friends and family loved life and lived it to the full everyday with his motto being 'Carpe Diem' or 'Seize the Day'. He embraced all the challenges of life thrown his way and pursued his dreams passionately. He loved helping others to fulfil their dreams too. His smile lit up the room where ever he went and his kindness knew no bounds. We will all miss him but remember him with love.

Pat was a loving, hard working, fun loving, 'action man' husband to my lifelong best friend Sal. I remember the day Sal told me she had met the man she was going to marry. We were sitting on a beach in Tavira in Portugal. Within a few years he surprised Sal with a brass band to welcome her to the church on their wedding day. Pat always knew what to get Sal for any occasion, her birthday, Christmas, a random day off, whatever. "He always puts so much thought into it" I can hear Sal say. As I got to know Pat over the years, I learnt that he loved to make the most out of each and every day. Not content with cycling to work and back, he would then be at the gym, or learning something new, enrolling on a course, from playing the piano, to sign language, and even tree felling and stonewall building! Together they were always doing something or going somewhere, concerts, the cinema, roller skating, spa days, off to Derbyshire for the weekend. You literally had to book in a several weeks or sometimes months in advance to get a free slot! He truly lived his motto Carpe Diem, Seize the Day. I can hear him say "You never know, you never know..." How very very true. The last thing I ever thought I would be doing only days after his kidney transplant is writing this. There are so many things I will keep in my mind and heart about Pat. His lovely welcoming smile, infectious laugh, positive and can do attitude, his caring and helpful nature. But one thing I will take forward in his memory is to live each and every moment of this precious, fragile life we have been given. I will be there for Sal, as we all will be, but I know that no-one can ever replace you Pat and I thank you for giving my best friend some of the best years of her life. God bless. Rest in peace.
