Nick Barlow

23 februari 1958 - 14 mei 2023

Nick died suddenly on the 14th May having just achieved a personal best for his half marathon time. He lived his best life, always busy either with sport activities such as sailing, running, and cycling or working on building cars and bikes as well as consistently helping others. He always had a huge smile and was able to always find the upside in any situation. He will be missed by all who have known him and was a rock and supportive friend, husband to Teresa, son to Barbara and David, dad to Oliver and his wife Justyna, and, granddad to Emilia and Billy. and even though he has been taken too early his enthusiasm for life will be remembered forever.

Nick was a terrible influence on me, the worst wine and rum experiences of my life were down this man. On his insistence, we parted with £1.99 for a 1.5L plastic bottle of 'Tescos Merlot' prior to going to the best steak house in town, which was sadly wasted on me, on account of the terrible wine. Also the worst rum, bought solely because it was called 'Old Nick' and it was the only booze we could find on a bank holdey weekend in cherbourg peninsula, this was poured over the side, even we hardened students couldn't stomach it. So thanks Nick for those two experiences, but also countless more which have shaped the course of my life. Tom Flint.
