Krishnan Subramanian

9 april 1974 - 12 november 2020

Dr Krishnan Subramanian was our dear friend and consultant anaesthetist at Royal Derby Hospital in UK who sadly passed away from COVID 19 complications. This immeasurable loss plunged his family and friends into deep darkness. He is survived by his loving wife and son. He was known for his lovely smile, bubbly speech and hearty laugh which is still ringing in our ears. His kind, gentle, highly intellectual and outgoing personality always made a great impression and enlivened everyone around him. His sudden demise is heart wrenching for many of us. We believe that he will always be with us in our beautiful memories and would only like us to celebrate memories about him and his life.

Didn’t realise that there would come a time to reinvent my thoughts , a time when we would be turning incomplete day by day , as we lose a soul by soul . Some memories strike us when we think of certain places or persons . What stuck me most about Krishnan was that he almost never used any foul language , never lost his temper so often , and when he did in the rarest of instances , the only words that came out of his mouth would be “ po da ivanae “ . He probably never got swayed by his baser instincts , maintaining his composure and smiling all the way . But the most striking of his characteristics was his signature laughter ;A wholehearted, natural and heartfelt laughter . Never thought I would miss him . And yet here we are , a loss to our batch , a loss to the fraternity , a greater loss to his family . I am happy to have been a part of his life , however minuscule it may be . I know he is in a better place now and resting in peace .

Krishnan remains etched in my memory as a caring person , ready to reach out and fun loving. He would personally get in touch with most of us in addition to making his presence on the whatsapp KMC 91 group. Be it his feedback about what I shared on the group or his eagerness to share about his journey with hindu scriptures it all came so easily of him. Krishnan continues to live through us and our memories of him. Rest in peace my friend.

I know Krishnan as a child. I saw him as young doctor and we went for free medical camp in Trichy in 1995. I met him in UK and recalled our previous meetings. We met in this Feb 29th our Medical School Alumni meet. He was in constant touch until August 2020. Then both were busy until I knew he was on ECMO. My prayers were futile. May god give strength to the sorrowing family.

He never forgot to individually text Happy Birthday wishes to friends until the week of his admission. God must have loved him so much that he took him so soon. He was the first one to solve math puzzles no matter how hard or tricky it was. Miss you Krishna. Keeping your family in my prayers.
