It's taken me a while to come to this page. John's loss hit me pretty hard... he was my PT but also a friend. I referred many people to John because John cared, he cared more than most about healing people. This is something so rare these days. Was he goofy? Did I want to slap him sometimes? Well I'll let you answer those questions.. but in reality he made me realize that a life of bodily abuse and sports doesn't have to end via injury or surgery or age.
John treated my body and allowed me time to treat my mind. Healing from my neck injury took years - yet he had the patience to keep working with me. In that time not only did we get past the original problem but fixed other issues that have allowed me to be closer to 60 and in the best shape of my life. A big part of that goes to Dr Kummrow.
In addition when my father arrived to spend a summer with us and could barely get off the plane with his walker... John worked with him that summer and sent him home without a walker.. he could walk 2 miles without help (albeit slowly) and Bill was proud of that. Bill passed away a few years ago, but he was going dancing - something he wouldn't have been able to do without John's special kind of help.
John has also worked with my wife, my daughter and countless friends. We have shared some whisky and dinner. And while we never were close friends, I was deeply hit by this loss and my condolences go out to Jen and his kids and family. A bright spark diminished way to soon in life. Dr. John Kummrow you will be missed by many.
