Inez Sourjah

The ultimate hostess, gardner & seamstress. Inez loved to care for others. Her & her soulmate, Robert, loved to entertain. The house was always filled with laughter.

From Hugh Karunanayake Inez and Robert have been legendary hosts bringing together many friends from diverse Sri Lankan origins together. We relished the many occasions at which we were privileged to share their table with them and taste the legendary cuisine by Inez. The wonder of it all, was how she was able to keep at it for so long, and with such enthusiasm. Apart from her cuisine, Inez was a sincere friend and was a source of comfort to my dear departed wife, when she was struggling with her terminal illness. Her love, care for others, and generosity of spirit will never be forgotten, and will always remain in our hearts. Thanks Jayantha for the wonderfully written appreciation. Rohan, Lalin and families please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your exceptionally caring mum, who we were privileged to know. There will be a special place in my heart for the wonderful friendship we enjoyed for over 25 years, and for the many friends we made at the Sourjah residence over the years. Like everything else however, there is a time span, and Inez did not have to wait long to join her soulmate, Robert. RIP Inez
