National Dolphin Day is celebrated on April 14 every year. On this day, we celebrate dolphins — one of the most intelligent and friendly mammals in the world. Dolphins are cetacean mammals that belong to the same family as whales and porpoises. Dolphins are extremely social and friendly beings. They love company. Hana loved company, was extremely social and just loved being with others. A little over 3 years ago Hana posted this picture. Hana had this tattoo in honor of her and me. I believe Hana’s tattoos were a way she showed her stories. Stories are a connection to your truth, reminders who you were and how you became who you are. I’m so glad Hana and I had the relationship we did. I’m so devastated that she is gone and grateful for the time she was in my life. Dolphin youngsters stay with their mothers until they mature. Dolphin mothers are brilliant teachers and invest a great deal of time and energy preparing their youngsters carefully for independence. Dolphins are excellent caretakers and will typically lend a fin when needed. In caring for her calf, a mother dolphin stays close by and attentively directs the calf's movements. I worked hard to give my kids a good foundation of love and skills to manage the world. Unfortunately Hana’s empathic personality was overwhelmed by the inequities of the world. How I wish I could have protected my kids from the pain of this world. I love you Hana. I miss you and wish you were here with me. Thank you for loving me.
