Dr Jonathan Nicholls, Registrary of the University of Cambridge from October 2007 to December 2016, and Emeritus Fellow of Emmanuel College, passed away on 14 March 2022. Jonathan was Registrar and Secretary of the University of Birmingham (2004-2007) and Registrar at the University of Warwick (1999-2004). Most recently, he was Senior Higher Education Adviser at FutureLearn, the Open University's digital courses platform.

Therefore I am pleasantly surprised at an illustrious career I could never have imagined for him, and unpleasantly surprised at his early death.
